Her Familial Usurper System Failed On Me Chapter 06

The night Nora was kicked out of the hotel, it rained.

She went to Richard Whitmore, the man who was my biological father in name only.

Richard had built his start on Mom’s money when they were married. He’d used her fortune to fund affairs with other women. When Mom kicked him out of the company, he’d never stopped

resenting her.

Nora handed him the perfect chance to strike back.

The next morning, they stormed Langley Holdings headquarters.

Richard led the charge with Nora in tow, followed by reporters and livestreamers.

He wore a rumpled suit and ranted to the cameras about how ruthless Mom was, how she couldn’t just abandon a girl who’d grown up in the Langley household.

At last, he revealed the real goal: either Vivian issued a public apology, or she handed over ten

percent of company shares as compensation for his daughter’s “emotional distress.”

Nora stood beside him with a bandage on her cheek, putting on an over–the–top, tearful

performance.

I sat on the leather sofa in the lobby corner, holding a can of sweetened milk drink. The straw was too short. I was working hard on the last drops.

Richard spotted me. His face shifted instantly.

He shoved past the reporters and charged at me. “Anna! Your mom won’t come out–then you come with me! I’m your real father! I have every right to take you!”

His hand reached for me. His nails had grime under them.

I didn’t want to be touched.

So I slowly extended one finger and pressed the red button on the wall beside the sofa.

A shrill beep cut through the noise.

Every light in the lobby flashed red. The highest–level security alarm screamed through the

building.

A dozen hidden doors slid open at once. Dozens of armed security guards poured out and tackled

Richard before his hand ever reached me.

The reporters froze. The livestream went silent.

Richard’s face was pressed against the marble floor. He was still cursing. “Anna! I’m your father!”

I bit my straw and thought for a second. “Oh. Did I press the wrong one?”

The security captain immediately responded, “Miss you didn’t press the wrong button. The

highest–level alarm is reserved for physical threats

Ding. The private elevator opened.

Mom stepped out with her legal team, secretaries, security detail, and two law enforcement

officers in suits.

Her secretary handed a stack of files to the reporters. “Here are records of Richard Whitmore’s

marital asset transfers, forged debts, and malicious appropriation of early Langley Holdings

investments.”

“Additionally, Mr. Whitmore is currently under investigation for commercial fraud, with multiple

victims filing joint charges.”

The reporters instantly turned their cameras on Richard.

Richard’s face went gray. He started screaming that it was fake, but when one of the enforcement

officers crouched down and opened the file in front of him, he crumpled completely.

Nora tried to run. Security blocked her.

Richard threw her under the bus immediately. “It was her idea! She said Vivian cared about that

idiot girl and we could get money if we grabbed her!”

Nora’s face went pale.

Mom walked up to me and crouched down. She looked at my hands. “Did he touch you?”

I shook my head. “No.”

She glanced at my drink. “Still want it?”

I nodded.

Mom took a napkin from her secretary and wiped a stray droplet from my chin.

Richard was dragged out still screaming her name. Mom didn’t even turn around.

She said flatly, “This is only the beginning.”
