Her Best Friend Bragged Online About Having A Secret Family With Her Man Chapter 06

Their so–called “home” was a high–end riverside penthouse in Oak City.

The moment the door opened, I let out a self–deprecating laugh.

The interior design here was identical to my own home.

No–to be more accurate, this place was warmer, more lived–in.

In the foyer stood the smart–sensor shoe cabinet I had just seen online recently. I hadn’t even had the chance to buy it yet, but it was already installed here.

On the coffee table in the living room sat a scented candle from the niche brand I loved most.

Every little item I had ever mentioned to make life more

convenient was here.

It turned out that every time Julian listened to me share my “lifestyle finds,” he immediately went out and bought two.

One to take home to appease me, and one to bring here to

please Cassie.

The most ironic part was the massive wedding portrait hanging behind the sofa.

In the photo, Cassie was smiling radiantly while Julian kissed her forehead, with the Santorini sunset as their backdrop.

That was the place I had wanted most for our wedding photos. But Julian always said he was too busy with work and didn’t have time to go abroad—he said he’d go anywhere domestic

with me instead.

It turned out he wasn’t short on time.

He just gave all the romance and sense of occasion to another

woman.

“Sit down.” Julian’s voice was dry. He didn’t dare look me in

the eye as he went to the kitchen to pour water.

Cassie coaxed Miles into his room to play. Only the three of us were left in the living room.

“Sera, let me explain…”

Julian placed the water glass in front of me, his voice trembling. “It’s not what you think. I… I really didn’t want to

hurt you.”

“Didn’t want to hurt me?”

I looked at him, my eyes devoid of life. “Julian, you’ve been married to me for four years, and you have a three–year–old

child. You set up a home in the neighboring state and played ‘happy family‘ with my best friend, and you’re telling me you didn’t want to hurt me?”

Julian opened his mouth, but before he could speak, Cassie

suddenly chimed in.

She seemed to have calmed down from her initial terror,

adopting an air of shameless honesty.

“Sera, since you’ve seen it all, let’s stop going in circles.”

She looked directly at me, her eyes actually holding a hint of pity. “Julian and I are the ones truly in love. He’s been mine since the night of the Graduation Party. All these years, he’s wanted to ask you for a divorce, but your health has been poor, and he was afraid the shock would be too much. That’s why

he’s dragged it out until now.”

She stood up, walked over to Julian, and affectionately linked her arm with his, as if marking her territory.

“It’s better this way, now that everything is out in the open. Julian will compensate you; you won’t lose a penny. Just name your price. As long as you agree to leave him, we’ll give you whatever you want.”

I looked at Cassie’s triumphant expression and felt waves of

nausea.

This was the “best friend” I had treated with total sincerity for

years.

She stole my husband, had his child, and now had the audacity to tell me to “name a price.”

But what she didn’t know was that I didn’t come here empty–handed.

I wasn’t generous enough to let everything go. At the very least, I would make sure she got nothing she wanted.

I still held Julian’s Achilles‘ heel in my hand.

I turned my head and looked quietly at Julian.

I used the look he was most familiar with–a gaze filled with endless sorrow and despair.

I spoke softly, my eyes projecting the perfect amount of heartbreak, my tone laced with fragile helplessness:

“Julian, are you throwing me away?”
