He Wasn’t Supposed To Have Kids, Then I Got Pregnant Chapter 05

Lucian draped a coat around my shoulders.

“Go back inside.”

I immediately refused.

“I want to see what happens.”He gave me a look, poured me a glass of water, then led me to the front entrance of the estate.

My parents were there, and so was Ryan.

Ryan wore a camel-colored overcoat. When he saw me, weariness showed in his pale gray eyes.”Livia.”

There had been a time when hearing him say my name like that could make me happy for hours. Now, all I wanted to do was hide behind Lucian.

The moment my mother saw me wrapped in Lucian’s coat, her eyes turned red.

“Come here.”

I shook my head.

My father’s face darkened.

“Orsini, Livia is still a member of the Serrano family. Are you holding her here because you want to start a war with the Serranos?”

Lucian stood in the doorway, his expression indifferent.

“I don’t care.”

Ryan stared at me intently.”Livia, you once said you wanted to marry me.”

My throat tightened because it was true.

I had written him love letters, given him scarves, and made a fool of myself more times than I cared to remember…

But the strange reader comments had already revealed what happened in the original story.

I gave up everything to pursue Ryan, yet Audrey was the woman he truly loved.

On the night I died, he had deliberately ignored my calls for help because Audrey was the only woman he truly cared about. Without help or treatment, I died alone in a forgotten corner of the city before anyone found me.

In the end, all Ryan brought to my funeral was a bouquet of white roses.

As I looked at him now, nausea rolled through my stomach.

“Sorry,” I said. “My tastes have changed.”

Ryan’s expression stiffened.

My mother immediately grew anxious.

“Livia, stop saying things you don’t mean.”

I wrapped both hands around Lucian’s arm.

“I’m carrying his child.”

My father raised his hand to strike me.

Before I could react, Lucian pulled me into his arms and took the blow himself.

The sharp crack of the slap cut through the night.Even my father froze.

Lucian’s face turned slightly to the side, and the corner of his lip split open.

My chest ached at the sight.”Lucian!”

He caught my wrist.

“Don’t shout.”

My eyes stung as I stared at him.

“Are you an idiot?”

He looked down at me.

“You’re pregnant.”

The comments appeared.

[That look on Livia’s face? She’s definitely falling for him.]

[Ryan is practically green with jealousy.][Audrey also alerted the other branches of the Orsini family. Her ability to stir up trouble is honestly impressive. Tonight just keeps getting better.]

Another convoy of Maybachs approached the estate.

Several men in tailored suits stepped out. The middle-aged man leading them glanced at my stomach before turning to Lucian.

“Something this important happened, and you didn’t think to notify me?”

He was Nero Orsini, Lucian’s uncle, who oversaw most of the family’s operations in Europe.

In recent years, however, rival Sicilian families had steadily pushed him out of his territory. He had been forced to retreat to New York, where he continued pretending the underworld still feared and respected him.

Lucian’s eyes turned cold.

“And who exactly do you think you are?”Nero’s expression darkened.

“That child may be the future heir of the Orsini family. Don’t I have the right to show some concern? In my opinion, this woman should be moved to Riverside Manor immediately.”

My parents looked even angrier when they heard that.

Ryan stepped forward.

“There’s still no proof the child has anything to do with the Orsini family.”

Nero gave him a cold smile.

“Then have a paternity test done.”Every person there was staring at my stomach.

Some looked at it as though it contained a priceless treasure. Others looked at it as though I were nothing more than a piece of meat.

Lucian suddenly spoke.

“Since you’re all here, we might as well sit down and discuss this properly.”He closed his hand around mine and lowered his voice so only I could hear him.

“Don’t be afraid.”

The moment I sat down in the conference room, a housekeeper brought me a glass of warm milk.

The comments multiplied so quickly that they nearly filled my vision.

[Don’t drink it! Don’t drink it!]

[Livia, don’t touch that!]

[The milk is poisoned!]
