He Wanted an Open Relationship, So I Accepted Another Proposal Chapter 10

I recovered at Adrian’s apartment for more than half a month.

The day I healed, he drove me back to school.

The car stopped at the main campus entrance.

I had just stepped out with Adrian’s help when a blur rushed toward us.

Grant nearly shoved Adrian aside.

Then he grabbed my wrist.

His grip was so hard my newly healed wrist ached.

His other fist was already flying toward Adrian’s face.

“Adrian! You don’t go after your friend’s girl. Harper is my girlfriend.”

Adrian tilted his head and dodged.

Then he raised his arm to block.

He looked at Grant, his voice low and cold. “You two broke up.”

“You don’t know a damn thing.” Grant roared, his eyes red. “Harper is mine. You think she actually likes you? She’s only using you to piss me off.”

I yanked my hand free from Grant. “Grant, are you done? Do you not understand what ‘we’re over’ means?”

“Harper, Maddie and I were just messing around. You promised you’d be with me forever.”

Adrian shifted me behind him. “I don’t care why Harper gave me a chance. What matters is that she did.”

“A chance?” Grant laughed coldly and stepped closer to me. “Harper, why would a man like Adrian even like you? You were enemies for years. He only wants to play with you, dump you, and laugh at you.”

“Did you forget how hard you two fought? He’s using your feelings to crush you once and for all.”

My fingertips trembled, but I told myself one thing: Adrian was someone I could trust.

Adrian let out a cold laugh, deep and dark.

“Grant, stop embarrassing yourself. Not everyone is as disgusting as you.”

He paused, his eyes passing over me before he looked back at Grant with obvious disgust.

“You knew I liked Harper. I’ve liked her since we were kids.”

The words struck my ears like thunder.

I jerked my head up to look at him.

He held my hand, steady and reassuring

But his gaze stayed on Grant.

“Back then, you threw away the birthday gift Harper gave me. You made her think I hated it. For the sake of all three of us, I never said anything.”

“But if you won’t cherish her, don’t blame me for taking her back. I’ll protect her myself.”

I stood there, frozen and cold all over, as the truth finally hit me.

All those years I fought Adrian.

All those grievances and anger born from his supposed coldness.

All that rivalry I thought was real.

It had all been a lie Grant planted with his own hands.

I had been such a fool, letting him play me in the palm of his hand while I handed him my heart.

A wave of nausea surged from my stomach.

I reached out and took Adrian’s fingers.

Then I held on tight. “Let’s go.”

I didn’t want to look at Grant anymore.

Even disgust felt like too much to give him.

“Harper!” Grant’s voice was full of resentment. “You think he actually cares about you? Adrian, what do you

even like about her?”

“I fucked her for five years, and I got tired of her long time ago. You really don’t care?”

Something seemed to explode in my head.

I froze.

My blood rushed upward, then drained clean away.

The calm in Adrian’s eyes broke into a storm.

It was a kind of violence I had never seen before.

Almost destructive.

He swept me behind him with one arm.

In the next second, his fist slammed into Grant’s face.

Adrian threw away every ounce of restraint.

Every punch was brutal./

Grant couldn’t fight back at all.

Soon, he was curled on the ground, covered in blood.

Only broken whimpers remained.
