He Wanted an Heir, So I Gave Him Ashes Chapter 30

Before the call even connected, sweat was seeping into Rhett’s palm.

This was a feeling he rarely experienced.

To his surprise, the call went through.

“Rhett, I already know about the asset liquidation.”

Mr. Vance’s tone was steady, betraying no emotion.

“You don’t need to explain anything. Since Ellie has made up her mind, as her father, I will support her unconditionally.”

“You can tell your parents that the business cooperation between our families will not change. The marriage of your generation should not affect the business of the previous one.”

“That’s all.”

Rhett’s eyes reddened.

At least Mr. Vance was still willing to take his call.

That felt like a glimmer of hope.

“Dad, I know I was wrong,” he said, his voice hoarse as he clung to the old form of address.

“I need to know where Ellie is. I can’t find her.”

“Please, just give me one more chance. Let me explain to her.”

The line was quiet for a long time, so long Rhett thought the call had dropped.

Of course Mr. Vance knew where his daughter was. But Ellie didn’t want to be found, and he couldn’t make that decision for her.

He had to refuse.

“I don’t know Ellie’s situation either.”

“But this business with that woman has gotten out of hand, and the impact on your company is significant. You should handle that first.”

Rhett’s throat tightened. “All right,” he said softly.

The call ended.

Because of him and Daisy, the Vance family wanted nothing more to do with him.

For the first time, Rhett truly began to hate himself.

Why had he let it get this far?

But regret was useless now.

He had to find another way.
