He Turned My Love Into a Grave Chapter 07

Elara’s body locked up. She met Silas’s sharp, questioning gaze and looked away. Her voice dripped with sarcasm. “When you bring Lila back here, I’ll have to leave the estate, won’t I? That’s how these stories always go.”

Silas frowned. He wrapped his arms around her from behind, his touch unnervingly gentle. His fingers brushed the bloodstained bandage on her arm, and something like pain flickered in his eyes.

“Still mad at me? Don’t worry. There’s only one Mrs. Voss. That’s you. I won’t break my word.”

“As for Lila, once the Voss family fully acknowledges her and the child, I’ll keep her somewhere private. No one can shake your position. Okay?”

Insane. Elara felt nausea churn in her gut. A tear of pure anguish rolled down her cheek. “Silas, you’re insane.”

He paused. Then he leaned down and kissed the tear away. A low laugh escaped him. “You’ve been with me long enough. You know how this world works by now. Keeping a mistress? It’s not exactly uncommon.”

“Alright. You’ve had your little tantrum. Now be a good wife and stay put. We’ll keep things peaceful. Got it?”

The next morning, Elara came downstairs. The table was buried under piles of luxury gifts and jewelry. The housekeeper beamed as she showed them off. “Mrs. Voss, Mr. Voss sent all this. He said you’ve been feeling down and told us to take extra care of you.”

Elara didn’t spare them a single glance. She turned and went back upstairs to pack her clothes and things, hiding the small suitcase inside her closet. All she had to do was wait for her chance.

Suddenly, an engine roared outside. Minutes later, the front door flew open. Elara was folding clothes. She didn’t even look up. “Why are you back—” She never finished.

He seized her wrist and dragged her out without a word of explanation. His face was a storm cloud.

He shoved her into the car. Her stomach slammed against the center console. The pain stole her breath. “Silas, what the hell is wrong with you?”

“I’m giving you five minutes. Tell me where Cole is.” Cole. Lila’s baby’s name.

Elara’s brain went blank, flooded with confusion. She had no idea where Cole was. Why was he demanding answers from her?

Silas floored the accelerator. He took her to a crumbling warehouse on the edge of town. The moment she stepped inside, she saw her father—still gravely ill, still weak—suspended from the ceiling.

A letter slammed against her face.

“You arranged to have Cole kidnapped. You threatened Lila—told her to leave the states and never come back. Elara, I already told you. No one’s taking your place as my wife. Why the hell are you still pulling this?”

She couldn’t make sense of it. She hadn’t done any of this. “I didn’t. I didn’t kidnap her child. I didn’t tell Lila to leave.” Her voice was helpless, desperate.

Silas was already watching a video. Lila, sobbing hysterically, begging Elara to give her baby back.

“Elara, just give me Cole and I’ll do whatever you want. You said I’m a disaster waiting to happen? Fine, I’ll go. Just please—don’t hurt him. Please!”

Silas hurled Elara to the ground.

At the same moment, the rope holding her father dropped.

“No!” Elara’s scream tore through the warehouse.

“I don’t know. I swear I don’t know where he is. Don’t hurt my dad!”

Silas’s eyes were ice. His hand clamped around her skull, forcing her to watch. “Look, Elara. That’s Toxic Waste Water down there. If he falls, he’s dead.”

“Lower him.”

Elara’s fingers clawed at Silas’s pant leg. Her voice shattered. “Silas, I’m pregnant. It wasn’t me.”
