He Turned My Love Into a Grave Chapter 02

Elara’s eyes burned red. She locked her gaze on Silas’s face, hunting for panic, for something that looked like guilt.

He just frowned, his expression still composed, still untouchable. He radiated the kind of calm you’d expect from a man watching mountains crumble.

That serenity cut deeper than any knife ever could.

If he were rattled, it would mean he cared. It would mean some part of him held her. But no. There was nothing.

He set down his champagne with deliberate ease and took her hand as naturally as breathing. “Alright. Enough. Let me take you home.” His voice was flat as still water, like cheating was just a minor inconvenience. Like her fury was a tantrum he could soothe away.

Her hand cracked across his face.

“What the hell is this, Silas? What am I to you? Some cheap piece of trash who catches her husband cheating and just lets herself get led away?”

His head snapped sideways. Five distinct finger marks bloomed on his skin. He didn’t explode. He just worked his jaw, a slow, deliberate motion.

His eyes went cold.

“Elara, we have a Strategic Marriage. You know how this world works. These arrangements are about assets. Not feelings.”

She stilled.

Silas looked like a man split down the middle by some invisible fault line, warped and fractured.

She laughed, the sound jagged and raw. “No feelings? Then why did you try so damn hard to marry me? Why did you propose? Why did you get into my bed?”

Silence stretched. Then his voice came, barely above a whisper. “I thought you understood. What we have is a transaction.”

The slap she’d dealt him felt like it had hit her own face instead. It burned.

The bubble she’d called love—the one she’d held inside her heart for years—burst into nothing.

Elara’s lips curved into a broken smile. She laughed until tears streamed down her cheeks. “So this whole time, I’ve been fooling myself. Thinking you loved me. Thinking this marriage wasn’t just profit and cold calculation. God, I’m an idiot.”

“We’re done, Silas. Divorce. No—wait. The marriage license was fake. There’s nothing to divorce.” She let out a hollow laugh.

Someone carrying a tray stumbled and crashed into her shoulder.

Her ankle twisted hard. A sharp cry tore from her throat as pain exploded from the joint and ripped through her entire body. She pitched backward.

Silas lunged forward and caught her around the waist. His deep-set eyes reflected her wreckage.

“Get off me. Don’t touch me. We’re done!” She fought him, but his arms locked her in place.

His voice dropped to ice. “Elara, I told you. Once I claim someone, I don’t let go. Leave? Forget it. Go home. Get some sleep. Pretend none of this ever happened. Alright?”

A baby’s cry pierced the room. Silas released her instantly.

He dropped her without a second thought.

“You bastard.” She hurled her purse at him. It slammed into his back, but he never paused. He walked straight toward Lila and the child.

Two security guards stepped forward and grabbed Elara by the arms.

The truth crashed down on her. Silas really did see her as a bargaining chip. A tool to be used and discarded as needed. When he cheated, she didn’t even have the right to demand answers.

She got forced onto a plane back home.

The moment she stepped into the villa, she called her best friend Noelle Reed. “Noelle, you were right. A man who’s still hung up on his first love—he can never be trusted. Is the contact you lined up for me still available?”

“Tell them to get me out. I’m leaving. For good.”
