He Turned My Love Into a Grave Chapter 05

One glance. Her blood turned to ice. Rage set her on fire.

“Silas, are you insane? I didn’t even touch a single hair on Lila’s head. You’re threatening me with this?”

Her voice was shredded, teeth clenched.

Silas just raised an eyebrow. His gaze was razor-sharp. “Lila’s sensitive. She bruises easy. I can’t stand seeing her cry.”

Elara felt like she’d been struck by lightning.

Because she hadn’t given Lila face, he chose this vicious method to “teach her a lesson.”

Just how much did he love Lila? Enough to go this far?

Bitterness flooded her throat until she tasted blood.

Silas ignored her despair completely. He nudged the glass on the table toward her. “Drink or don’t. Your choice.”

She looked at the hungry eyes around her. She looked at the document.

She broke.

“Fine.” She grabbed the glass and drained it. Liquid spilled down the pale column of her throat and soaked into her thin collar.

She’d jumped into this abyss named Silas three years ago and never once noticed how bottomless he truly was. Ending up here—this was on her.

“Wonderful. Mrs. Voss can hold her liquor. Come on, let’s do a toast. Arm in arm, real close.”

A man with a wrinkled face laughed without shame. His fingers slipped beneath the hem of her dress, groping and taunting, grinding her dignity underfoot.

Half an hour later, Elara hunched over the sofa, retching. Her voice came out broken, barely audible. “Is that enough, Silas?”

His gaze flickered. He was about to relent.

The door burst open. His assistant rushed in. “Sir, someone attacked Ms. Hale!”

Silas’s eyes went wide. He flew to his feet and strode out—stepping right over Elara, still crumpled on the floor.

She struggled upright, desperate to escape.

A hand clamped down on her wrist. “Hold on, Mrs. Voss. Mr. Voss didn’t say you could leave.”

“Let go. I drank. What more do you want? If you touch me, you’ll regret it.”

A slap cracked across her face.

The man sneered, wild and mocking. “Silas already has a kid with his mistress. What do you think you are? He married you for business. Now that you’ve served your purpose, you’re just a toy for the rest of us.”

“You don’t know? Before we came in, he told us to break you in properly.”

“To him, when you behave, you’re a lapdog. When you don’t, you’re a whore.”

Elara’s head snapped up. Pain stabbed through her heart like needles. Tears spilled down her cheeks and hit the carpet.

She stumbled back, shaking her head. “Don’t touch me.”

A hand clamped over her mouth. Arms wrenched her backward.

The door clicked shut. The lock turned.

The crystal chandelier overhead blazed, blinding and cruel.

Her nails tore into the carpet, splitting and bleeding. She lost track of time. Warmth slid down her inner thighs. Her tears dried up in silence.

Downstairs, Silas reached the main hall.

Lila stood surrounded by a circle of socialites, her cheek swollen and red.

Silas scooped her into his arms, his eyes radiating lethal pressure. “Who touched her? Do you have a death wish?”

“Mr. Voss, wait. She started it. She called us trophy goods, said marrying rich meant we had no dignity.”

“She laughed at all of us. Said true love always wins and the wife has to step aside. We just couldn’t take it anymore.”

Silas felt the sting of those words. They were ugly. His irritation with Lila deepened.

For once, he held back his fury. He issued a low warning. “I don’t give a damn what happened. She’s under my protection. You don’t lay a hand on what’s mine. Get out. If it happens again, none of you will have a place in this city.”

He turned, his face hard as stone, and carried Lila away.

After he’d calmed her down, he ordered his assistant to drive her back to the villa.

Then he turned and headed upstairs.

He pushed the door open. The stench of alcohol hit him in the face.
