He Told Me He Slept With Her, on Our Wedding Bed, in My Dress Chapter 06

I woke up on the third day after surgery.

The moment he saw my eyes open, Callum, who had kept vigil at my bedside for three days and nights, shot to his feet

and started asking question after question.

“Sienna, you’re awake. Are you in pain anywhere? Do you need a doctor? Talk to me, baby.”

I looked at him, my hand clenched into a fist beneath the blanket.

Then I shook my head and asked with deliberate confusion. “Who are you?”

Callum froze.

Then, just like that, joy exploded across his face.

While waiting for me to wake up, he had probably rehearsed a thousand apologies, a thousand lies to cover his tracks.

He had prepared himself to chase me all over again if he had to.

The one thing he had never expected was the ultimate reset button: a total blank slate.

He tried to hide how thrilled he was. “I’m your husband,” he said carefully. “We were married at City Hall last week. The

big ceremony is in a few days.”

Then he added, after the briefest pause, “A few days ago, you went up to the roof to watch the stars and accidentally fell. You just had surgery, so you’ll need time to recover. Once you’re better, we’ll have the wedding.”

Where he could not see, the corner of my mouth curved in silent ridicule.

A moment later, I looked at him with the spoiled stubbornness he used to indulge and asked, “Really? What proof do you

have?”

At once, he looked thrown.

The obvious proof should have been the marriage certificate, except he had no idea where I had put it.

Family could have backed him up too, except the woman he cheated with was my sister, and my parents were still

waiting at home for him to explain himself to Blaire.

When I saw him standing there speechless, I pressed a hand to my head and pretended something had just surfaced in

my memory.

‘I think I remembered a little,” I said slowly.

“Someone pushed me in the garden after it rained. I think our marriage certificate fell on the ground too

The moment he heard that, guilt flooded his face.

He cleared his throat and said, “No one’s ever going to hurt you again. Sienna I know where it is now I’ll go home and

get it’

I smiled and nodded.

Then the second he walked out of the room, that smile disappeared.

Callum knew none of it.

He rushed back to the house and stood in the spot where I’d hit the pavement. The guilt finally caught up to him.

Then, overwhelmed by guilt, he slapped himself across the face.

After that, he started digging through the backyard with his bare hands, as if brute force alone might somehow uncover

the marriage certificate.

But even after blood started seeping through his fingers, he still could not find it.

In the end, he had no choice but to hire several people to search the house with him.

A full day and night later, he finally found it under the bed in the room I had jumped from. The certificate was wrinkled

and damp with stains.

Those were my tears, the ones that had fallen when he hurt me so badly I could barely breathe.
