He Slept With Her In My House I Made It His Worst Mistake Chapter 11

Life moved on quickly.

Work got busy. I applied for a transfer and moved to a new department. It was farther from Lakeside Vista, but the

hours were more flexible.

I checked out of the short-term rental and moved back.

To Lakeside Vista.

Alone.

Only my shoes sat in the entryway.

Only one mug on the coffee table. Blue.

The pink one was gone. I threw it out.

The couch, the Morandi gray one he picked, I replaced it too. With a deep blue one..

Simple reason.

I like deep blue.

Not out of spite. Just preference.

On the weekend, I went grocery shopping alone. Cooked two dishes. Sat on the balcony and ate by myself.

The balcony overlooked the park. It was September. The trees by the lake had started to turn.

After dinner, I washed the dishes.

Then I picked up a book and sat on the couch.

Quiet.

But not the same kind of quiet as before.

Before, quiet meant he wasn’t home.

Now, quiet meant no one was coming back.

No one would change my passcode.

No one would bring someone else into my home.

No one would use my apartment to impress others.

No one would spend my money on someone else.

Quiet.

But not empty.
