He Signed Me As Nanny Not Wife For Ten Years Chapter 03

Back in the old walk-up apartment building, Sienna was casually tossing a sealed document envelope into the woodstove.

When she looked up and saw me, the smile had not yet faded from her face.

She said provocatively, ”Oh. You saw that?”

”Evelyn, I’m so sorry. I accidentally mistook your application documents for trash again. You won’t be mad, will you?”

My nails dug into my palm.

In my previous life, Sienna had done this again and again.

She had accidentally destroyed the application documents I had spent months preparing.

Then she would go to Adrian with red-rimmed eyes and say she had not meant to do it.

She would cry and apologize to me, begging for forgiveness.

Every single time, Adrian would shield her behind him and question me instead.

”What do you want from her, Evelyn? Sienna already apologized. What’s the point of holding on to it?”

I took a deep breath and forced down the hatred swelling in my chest.

Just as I was about to speak, Sienna’s expression suddenly changed.

Without hesitation, she shoved her hand into the glowing stove.

As she cried, she apologized to me. ”I’m sorry, Evelyn. It’s all my fault. I’ll get it out for you right now.”

”Please don’t be angry. Please don’t make me leave…”

A terrible feeling rose in my chest.

The next second, someone shoved me aside and rushed straight toward Sienna.

Adrian gathered her into his arms with visible distress.

When he looked at me, the anger in his eyes was impossible to hide.

”Evelyn Hart! How could you be so cruel? You forced Sienna to dig through the stove for your things?”

After shouting at me, he immediately carried Sienna to the sink.

He rinsed her hand under cold water, even though I could barely see any burn.

His voice shook with concern. ”Does it still hurt? What if it scars?”

”Why are you so foolish? She told you to do it, so you just did it? Why couldn’t you wait until I came back?”

Sienna shook her head timidly, tears shining in her eyes.

”It doesn’t matter what happens to me. I just don’t want this to hurt your relationship with Evelyn.”

”Evelyn said the fire wasn’t that strong. She said it would only sting for a second. She didn’t mean to force me.”

When Adrian heard her explanation, the way he looked at me turned ice-cold.

”The fire wasn’t that strong? It would only sting for a second?”

”Fine. If that’s true, then you go pick it out yourself.”
