Logan’s colleagues brought Milo back.

When Mrs. Whitmore heard the news, she hurried over and took Milo home.

After that, everything became simple.

Sienna came to the police station after being called in for questioning. The moment she saw Adrian in handcuffs, her expression shifted.

“You forged the paternity test, didn’t you?”

Logan’s voice was unhurried, but his disgust was unmistakable.

“And three years ago, when you grabbed Evelyn and caused her to fall down the stairs and lose her baby, that was you too, wasn’t it?”

Sienna’s face went pale with shock.

“That time wasn’t intentional. She lost her footing on her own.”

“I admit I forged the paternity report, but I won’t admit to that.”

“That’s fine. We can check the surveillance footage.”

Logan signaled to one of his colleagues, and Sienna was cuffed on the spot.

“We weren’t planning to pursue that matter anymore, but since you kept pushing, we might as well settle every account at once.”

For all her scheming, Sienna panicked the moment the cuffs went on.

“I was wrong. I was obsessed. I just wanted Adrian and Evelyn to get divorced. I never meant to hurt anyone.”

“Officer, please let me go. I’ll apologize. I’ll do anything.”

Logan ignored her and had someone take her away.

Adrian looked awful. He stared after Sienna with hatred, his jaw clenched tight.

“I trusted the wrong person. I thought she was capable and would make a good employee. I never expected…”

“Why keep lying to yourself?”

I cut him off with a mocking smile.

“You’re a smart man. Don’t pretend you never noticed what she wanted from you.”

“You just enjoyed being admired and didn’t want to call it out.”

Adrian looked at me with bloodshot eyes.

I thought he was going to defend himself, but after a long silence, he suddenly said, “Evelyn, if I had answered your call that night, would we still have ended up like this?”

I looked at him with disgust.

“Even if you had answered, as long as Sienna was around, we would have divorced sooner or later.”

“Adrian, I will never forget how I lost my first child.”

“You and Sienna are both killers.”

His mouth opened, but it was as if his voice had gotten stuck in his throat. Not a single word came out.

Logan walked over and pulled me into his arms, sounding a little jealous.

“You’re still talking to him? Milo is waiting at home.”

“Let’s go back, okay?”

I nodded and left the police station with him under Adrian’s gaze.

Two months later, the case went to trial.

In court, Sienna and Adrian both pleaded guilty to what they had done.

Six months later, sentencing came down.

Sienna was sentenced to seven years. Adrian was sentenced to six.

Neither of them appealed, and the case was closed just like that.

Another six months passed, and Lancaster Group declared bankruptcy.

The news that Adrian and his secretary had gone to prison spread across all of Harbor City.

I didn’t need to imagine how the employees who once gossiped about me were now talking about them.

After Milo’s first birthday, I went to see Adrian once.

His head was buzzed short, and he looked haggard. From the state he was in, it was clear he had not had an easy time inside.

The moment he saw me, tears fell. Holding the receiver, he choked out, “Evelyn, I never thought you would still come to see me.”

“I was such a monster to you, and yet you still came…”

“You’re overthinking it.”

I smiled and cut him off.

“I only came to tell you that Lancaster Group went bankrupt. Your father couldn’t handle the pressure and jumped from a building.”

“Tens of millions in debt fell onto your mother alone. When debt collectors showed up at her door, she had a heart attack and died too.”

Adrian’s face turned deathly pale, and the receiver slipped from his hand.

I had planned to say a few more things, but seeing him like that, I lost interest.

After that, I went to see Sienna.

The Lancaster Group scandal had been huge, and she had been torn apart online. People had said all kinds of things about her.

I only read a few comments aloud, and she couldn’t take it. She slammed the receiver down like a lunatic and screamed that she would kill me.

In the end, the prison guards dragged her away with grim faces.

When I walked out of the prison, I felt lighter than I ever had before, and the smile never left my face.

Logan pinched my cheek and teased me.

“You’re this happy after seeing your ex-husband?”

“Of course.”

I smiled wider.

“Watching him and Sienna lose everything made me very happy.”

“Come on. I’ll take you to a movie.”

He put an arm around my shoulders and laughed too.

“What’s playing lately? Romance or action?”

The sunlight was perfect as we left the prison together.

Our laughter drifted behind us as we walked away.

We had met a few years late, but somehow, everything had still happened at the right time.

And our future would only get better from here.
