He Signed Divorce Papers Then Found My Wedding Photo Chapter 05

When I opened my eyes again, it was already the next day.

I woke drenched in cold sweat and realized I was in the hospital. I immediately tried to get out of bed.

“Milo. Where’s Milo?”

Adrian grabbed my hand.

“The child is fine. He’ll be handed over to someone soon.”

His hand was cold, and it sent a shiver of disgust through my entire body.

I finally broke down. Tears spilled over as I looked at him and pleaded through a choked voice.

“I’m begging you. Give him back to me. He really has nothing to do with you.”

“That paternity test has to be fake. Sienna did this on purpose.”

“She wants to hurt my child. She wants to destroy me.”

Seeing my tears, Adrian’s tone softened a little.

“I promise, once he’s grown, I’ll bring him back and let him know where he came from.”

“But now really isn’t the right time. I still have my career to focus on. I can’t afford distractions.”

He simply couldn’t understand a single word I was saying.

I lost control again.

“I told you he isn’t your child. Why won’t you believe me?”

“You can call my husband and ask…”

“Enough!”

Adrian cut me off in irritation.

“The paternity results are already out. If he isn’t mine, then whose child is he supposed to be? Logan’s?”

“Evelyn, are you that committed to this act, or do you really think I’m that easy to fool?”

Maybe I had gotten too worked up.

After he said those words, the room spun violently before my eyes again.

He caught me, sounding almost patient.

“I’ll take you to see him in a while. You can look at him one more time before he’s sent away.”

“Tomorrow, we’ll remarry. From now on, I’ll keep my distance from Sienna.”

“Can you stop fighting me? I’m really tired.”

I couldn’t speak.

My heart was beating so hard it felt like it might burst, and my head swam with nausea.

Adrian stroked my hair as if to comfort me, then ordered someone to help me out of the hospital.

After we got into the car, he kept holding my hand.

“Evelyn, as long as you behave, I can give you anything except the child.”

Soon, the car pulled onto the road.

Despair kept crashing over me. I stared out the window, numb, as tears slid down my face.

With a sharp screech, the car suddenly slammed on the brakes.

My body lurched forward, but Adrian reacted quickly and pulled me back into his arms.

He shot the driver a cold look.

“What the hell are you doing?”

But the driver was staring ahead in shock, his voice trembling.

“Those are military vehicles, Mr. Lancaster. We’ve been cut off.”

Adrian’s expression turned grave at once.

I looked out the car window, and my heart began to pound again.

Four military vehicles had boxed Adrian’s car in from every direction.

“Get out of the car!”

A commanding shout rang out.

Against the light, a man in camouflage fatigues walked toward us. He raised his weapon, the dark barrel aimed directly at Adrian.

It was him.
