He Sent a Fake to Scare Me Off, I Ended Up Feeding Him for Months Chapter 11

From that day on, everyone at school was talking about how Chase was trying to win me over.

He made no attempt to hide it. Before long, the entire school knew about our engagement.

“He’s going after his own fiancée. It’s their thing. You wouldn’t understand.”

“I thought Chase couldn’t stand that fiancée of his from the sticks. Who knew he was this into her?”

“I heard Savannah mistook Elias for Chase when she first transferred here. She treated him

unbelievably well.”

“I knew a broke kid like Elias couldn’t be that lucky. A gorgeous girl like Savannah was practically

throwing herself at him, but only because she thought he was Chase.”

Those comments never reached me. They made sure Elias heard every word.

They were meant for Elias.

After PE one afternoon, I couldn’t find him anywhere.

I searched all over campus. As I passed two girls, I overheard their conversation.

“This is bad. Trent Walsh and his friends locked Elias in the equipment room. They said they were

going to teach him a lesson.”

“Oh my God. Should we tell a teacher?”

“Maybe not. If Trent finds out, we’re screwed. He isn’t someone we can afford to upset, not over

someone like Elias.”

I immediately took off toward the equipment room, but Chase rushed over and grabbed my arm

halfway there.

“You said you’d bring me water. I was out there the whole game, and you never showed up.”

I yanked my arm free. “Sorry, something came up.”

“You’re going after Elias again?” Chase’s expression hardened.

“Savannah, you only noticed him because you thought he was me. If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t

even be worth your attention, let alone your time.”

“Chase.” I looked at him calmly.

“Maybe I first noticed him because I thought he was you, but the person I got to know was Elias. Elias was the one I spent all that time with, not you. I know the difference.”

Chase frowned.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

I didn’t have time for this. I turned and sprinted toward the equipment room.

The equipment room was beneath the football bleachers, and once the door closed, it became pitch-black inside.

Fortunately, Trent and his friends were still there when I arrived.

I marched over, grabbed Trent by the collar, and glared at him.

“Give me the key, or I’ll rearrange your face.”

Trent’s family had some influence, and his father’s connections with the principal had allowed him to bully other students without consequences.

His face turned red.

“Let go of me! You’ve got a big mouth, Savannah. You really think you’d dare hit me?”

I wasn’t afraid of him. I slapped him hard across the face.

“I just did. Was I supposed to make an appointment first? Give me the key.”

Even the scar-faced debt collector hadn’t been able to overpower me. These out-of-shape teenage

boys didn’t stand a chance.

“Elias?” I shoved open the door and called his name.

Light spilled into the dark room, revealing Elias lying collapsed on the floor, drenched in sweat.

Beneath his disheveled bangs, his half-open eyes slowly focused on me.
