He Scorned Me, Now I’m a CEO He Can’t Afford Chapter 39

Lena sighed.

“Is it really that dramatic?”

“Yes!” Molly was so excited her face was flushed. “All the girls on site are losing their minds.”

Beside her, Logan snorted softly.

“Is he really that good-looking?”

Molly looked up at Logan and faltered. “Well, you’re handsome too! But the guy by the river… it’s a different kind of handsome.”

Lena almost laughed.

But Molly was already pulling her along, dragging her toward the open space by the river.

Sure enough, a crowd had gathered. Even the excavator operators had stopped working to stare.

Molly pulled her through the throng of people.

But the closer they got, the more the smile on Lena’s face faded.

At the center of the crowd, a tall figure stood with his back to her.

Cowboy hat.

Broad shoulders.

A ramrod-straight posture.

So familiar she would know him anywhere.

Her steps faltered.

“Sorry,” she said quickly to Molly. “I just remembered something. I’ll go—”

But it was too late.

As if sensing her presence, the man ended his call and turned around.

The next second, a voice so familiar it made her heart clench cut through the noise of the crowd.

“Lena.”
