He stood there, drained of all strength.

“Mr. Wyatt, have you not seen the news about Red Creek Ranch?” she asked.

Wyatt frowned.

“That’s just reporters making things up, isn’t it?”

“No,” Ms. Thompson said flatly. “A great deal of evidence has already been posted online. Lena disguised herself because she was ostracized and suppressed in her own home for years. If she hadn’t pretended, her life would have been much harder.”

Wyatt’s face changed.

That night, Wyatt didn’t sleep.

He sat in the dark, staring at his phone, reading through every article and post he had previously dismissed.
