He Saved A Dog But Let His Wife’s Father Die Chapter 06

Before she finished speaking, Joseph’s tone turned icy. “Ava came all this way to bring me home injured. Why are you being so hostile?”

He slammed his car keys onto the table, his gaze heavy with disapproval.

Ava quickly wiped her tears. “Joseph, don’t blame Camilla! This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have walked you

home. I’ll leave now.”

She spun around and bolted out the front door. Joseph didn’t hesitate he was right behind her.

The front door slammed shut, and silence settled over the house once more. I kept sorting my things.

Joseph didn’t come home for the entire night.

Early the next morning, my best friend arrived to drive me. “Are you absolutely certain about this?”

I stared down at my abdomen, fell quiet for a long moment, and nodded slowly. “I’m sure.”

After completing admission formalities, I was wheeled into the operating suite.

Just then, a familiar figure stepped through the doorway. It was Ava.

Every muscle in my body locked. “I don’t want her in here. Please, get someone else.” I tried to sit up.

The doctor pressed me back down. “Don’t be ridiculous. Ava is one of our best scrub nurses. You’re in good

hands.”

I tried to argue further, but the anesthesiologist walked over with a syringe. “Relax. You’ll drift off, and it will all be over when you wake.”

A cold sensation spread through my veins as the anesthetic took hold. My consciousness blurred. The last thing I saw was Ava standing beneath the surgical lamp, her gaze fixed on me, cold and malicious.

I had no sense of how much time passed before agony jolted me awake. A brutal cramping pulled low in my abdomen, as if something kept tearing free inside me.

I opened my eyes. The ward was empty except for Ava, who stood by the chart with detached indifference.

“It hurts… something’s wrong…” My voice came out weak.

Ava walked over, glanced at me, her expression impassive. “This is normal post-op discomfort. Rest and it

will ease.”

With that, she turned and left the room.

I lay on the bed, consciousness slipping away.

Suddenly, someone burst through the door.

“Camilla!” It was my best friend.

I could no longer form words. I struggled to grip her hand.

My friend glanced at the blood soaking the bed sheet and screamed at once. “Doctor! Get a doctor immediately! She’s hemorrhaging!”
