He Said I Was NOBODY, But Now He’s Begging For My Love Letter Chapter 08

He Said I Was NOBODY, But Now He’s Begging For My Love Letter Chapter 08

I woke up the next morning with terrible dark circles

I looked like I’d been punched

My eyes were puffy from crying all night. I splashed cold water on my face and layered on concealer and foundation

I thought Elara would still be asleep. But she was already

gone

A note was tucked under an insulated food container

It read: [I’m going after Elias! A guy that generous? I’m not letting him get away.

[I bought you your favorite Maple Street Oatmeal Bowl. Heat it up if it’s cold.

I stared at the note for a long time

[Going after Elias.

[Not letting him get away.

The words stung my heart

I opened the container

The oatmeal was still warm. Maple Street was a 15minute

walk from my place

Elara knew I loved it. She bought it for me when I was sick

or upset

But this time, I didn’t know if I should feel grateful

I took a deep breath and ate quickly, forcing every bite

down

Like I could swallow all the bad feelings too

Elara was a good friend

We’d met freshman year, only four years agoless time than I’d known Elias

She was kind and caring

When I’d gotten a bad virus sophomore year, she’d taken me

to the ER in the middle of the night

She hated going out of her way. But she’d rushed around for

  1. me

She had flaws

She was a player queen

But she cared about me. Truly

I thought if I had to choose between them, I’d pick Elara

The tightness in my chest eased a little

Crush or friendship

I wasn’t stupid. I knew which mattered more

I went back to my routine: work, apartment, work

apartment. Left at 7:30 a.m., back at 7:30 p.m.

Like a robot on a loop

Elara has been very busy lately

Once she decided to chase Elias, she committed

I saw her posts on her socials

A fullglam selfie captioned: [The vibe of a girl dressed up for

someone important.

I then saw she’d shared a restaurant location, that

hardtobook French bistro downtown

I knew what she was doing. I just didn’t know if she’d

succeed

Elias’s chat stayed quiet

After I broke the vase, I told him I’d pay him back in

installments

He never replied

On Wednesday afternoon, my mom called.
