He Said He’d Marry Her, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 21

“I’ll make time to go back and see him.”

“If I can, I’ll bring him to Chicago.”

“Are you planning on never coming back to Los Angeles?”

A sudden anger entered Ethan’s voice.

I lowered my head and smiled.

“That’s not impossible.”

It was true.

I was about to marry into a Chicago family.

My life would be here now.

But there was no need to tell Ethan that.

“Ava, you’re still so willful. So childish.”

“You haven’t grown up at all.”

Ethan’s voice grew colder.

“You’d better not regret this, Ava.”

“Regret what?”

“Brooke and I are already engaged.”

“We’re setting the wedding date.”

“And?”

“Ava, don’t play dumb.”

“If I really marry Brooke, you…”

I smiled, feeling a sense of peace settle over me.

“Ethan, I sincerely wish you both the best. Truly.”

On the other end of the line, Ethan fell silent.

I didn’t wait for him to say anything else. I just gently hung up.

When I was fourteen, the first seeds of a crush had been planted.

From then on, my feelings for him had grown out of control.

I had been so stubborn, so obstinate, I had refused to ever call him ‘brother’ again.

Now, almost seven years later.

He was finally back where he belonged.

I didn’t hate him. I didn’t resent him.

After so many years of living under the same roof.

I sincerely wished him well.
