He Paid Me To Strip So I Smashed His Head Instead Chapter 12

I arrived at the hospital.

I spoke first, “Zack, I’ve raised the money for the surgery. When can we schedule it?”

Zack sighed, looking at me with pity.

“You’ll need six more months of medication, then a full checkup before we can even begin planning the operation.”

He hesitated. “The cost of the surgery isn’t the main issue. It’s the lifelong medication afterward. The condition itself is operable, but the real challenge is the long-term treatment.”

I nodded. “Don’t worry, Doctor. I have a plan.”

Zack stopped talking and wrote me a prescription.

I took the heavy bag of medication and sighed.

Money.

The thing I used to care about least.

I’d even boasted, “I don’t want money. I want love.”

I really wanted to slap my past self.

What a hypocrite.

Look at me now. Broke.

Just as I was about to call a rideshare, burdened with the heavy bag, a Maybach screeched to a stop

beside me.

The window rolled down, revealing Lucas’s pretty face, still bandaged.

“Hey, Sis!” he called, cheerful as if nothing had ever happened between us.

I stared blankly. Lucas smiled. “You don’t look so good today. What’s wrong? Why are you at the

hospital?”

He kept talking.

The sun was scorching, and I was sweating on the roadside while Lucas sat cool in the

air-conditioned car.

This jerk talked my ear off without once saying, “Where are you headed? Let me give you a ride.”

Heh.

Noticing my flushed face and damp forehead, he finally seemed to remember his manners. “Where

are you going, Sis? Let me drive you.”

I fixed him with a deadpan look. Lucas just kept smiling.

Without hesitation, I got in and gave him my address. A free ride? I’m not stupid.

“Sis, is that medicine?” he asked. “Are you really sick?” He sounded almost annoyed. “Sorry, I thought you were faking. You have a history, you know. You’re not mad, are you?”

Me: ……

What the hell.

“You’re not thinking bad things about me, are you?” he went on.

I rolled my eyes and ignored him. Lucas chattered happily, “What’s wrong with you, Sis? Is it serious? When will you get better? It’s so worrying…”

I’d had enough. “Terminal. I’m dying. Kaput. What, you offering to buy me a plot?”

Lucas fell silent. After a long pause, he said softly, “That’s not funny. How could you die? You’re a

troublemaker. You’ll live to be a hundred.”

Silence filled the car. It wasn’t until I was getting out that he spoke again. “Sis, you live here now?”

I shot him a glare. “Thanks for the ride. But where I live is none of your business.”

With that, I headed upstairs.
