He Paid Me To Strip So I Smashed His Head Instead Chapter 07

I don’t know why Chloe keep the villa’s decor exactly as it was.

Nothing had changed.

In the back patio, the same porch swing still hung.

Now it was dressed like something from a fairy tale, draped in white camellias.

I sat down and swayed idly,

my mind racing, trying to figure out how to squeeze more money out of them.

Just as I was worrying, opportunity knocked.

Somehow, Xavier had appeared behind me.

He looked down, studying me.

“You seem different,” he said calmly.

I didn’t turn.

“No.”

He murmured, almost to himself, “You haven’t changed. You’ve… gone back. Back to before your family went bankrupt.”

Oh.

Nice, kid. Still sharp.

Xavier went on, “You used to be exactly like this. Spoiled, arrogant, unreasonable—so self-centered the world seemed to orbit you.

You ignored everyone’s opinions, did whatever you wanted, reckless to the core.

He listed flaw after flaw.

“You said you liked me, so you made a scene about marrying me, never mind what I wanted.

And when I started falling for you, you turned your eyes to Ethan.

I never thought even someone as cold as him would give in to you so easily.

And Lucas—that fool followed you around all day, ‘Sis’ this, ‘Sis’ that.

He spoke on for a while, then tilted his head.

“Those same people who once revolved around you now look at you with nothing but spite, all for another girl.

You grew jealous, afraid. The fallout from your family’s ruin stripped you of your old shine.

“I watched you twist, grow ugly.”

“But strangely, today… I see the old you again.”

He looked genuinely confused.

I stopped swaying.

I looked up at him and smiled faintly.

“Transfer one hundred thousand dollars. I’ll give you the answer.”

His expression froze. Then he actually took out his phone and sent the money.

I carefully counted the zeros, tucked my phone away, and crooked a finger, beckoning him closer.

He bent down, bringing that handsome face level with my lips.

I puckered up and planted a loud kiss right on his cheek.

For a split second, Xavier was stunned. The calm mask he always wore seemed to crack,

his eyes widening slightly.

I let out a laugh.

Then I tipped my chin toward the front-right,

leaning in deliberately so my breath brushed his ear. “Careful, baby. You’re about to get voted off the male lead island.”

Not far away, Chloe looked on, on the verge of tears.

Ethan wore his usual dead-fish expression. Lucas smiled, gentle and friendly.
