He Only Sent Me Traffic Lights but Took Wedding Photos with Her Chapter 08

He Only Sent Me Traffic Lights but Took Wedding Photos with Her Chapter 08

He looked like he’d been rehearsing this for a while. When he finally met my eyes, emotions I

couldn’t read swirled in them.

His throat bobbed several times before words came out.

“She… she’s just a childhood arranged marriage arranged by my dad when we were kids.’

“Some guy tricked her, got her pregnant, then ran off. She had nowhere else to go, so she came to

me.”

“Her parents are gone. Since my parents were close friends with hers, they begged me on their deathbeds to take good care of her.”

“I didn’t have a choice but to help her, Sophia. You have to believe me-nothing happened between

us.”

He took a deep breath, like he was steeling himself for the next part.

“Actually, I was planning to propose to you. I’d already bought the ring-it’s been hidden in my office desk drawer this whole time.”

“But the day before I planned to tell you, she called saying she was going to kill herself.”

“I had to go calm her down first. That turned into two months.”

“Those wedding photos were photoshopped. I had no idea she’d post

them.’

“I promised her one last week. I’ve already set her up at a postpartum recovery center. Once the baby is born, I’ll have nothing more to do with her.”

“Sophia, I didn’t cheat. You’re the only one in my heart. Please believe me.”

I just looked at him without saying a word.

Ethan panicked and yanked Riley closer, his tone commanding. “Explain it to Sophia. Now.”

Riley’s eyes turned red instantly.

She glanced at Ethan first, unwilling, tears pooling but refusing to fall.

Ethan’s gaze burned with cold fury, shooting her a look that left no room for argument.

She shrank back slightly under his stare.

Then she slowly turned to me.

“I’m sorry. That day I misled you.”

“He’s not my husband. The baby has nothing to do with him.”

Ethan let out a relieved breath, his eyes locking onto mine. “Sophia, do you believe me now?”

I looked at him. My heart felt squeezed by an invisible fist, the pain making it hard to breathe.

I mocked myself bitterly inside.

For a second there, I’d actually hoped for a perfect explanation.

But he didn’t get it.

Even if nothing physical happened, even if he hadn’t technically cheated, he had still crossed every

line.

His “no choice” was just him weighing his options and picking her first.

He chose to take care of her instead of coming to me.

I drew in a deep breath and forced my voice steady. “Take out your phone. Open our chat.”

“This endless wall of green and red light emojis doesn’t lie.”

With that, I turned on my heel and walked away.

Ethan stepped forward, trying to grab me, but I simply pointed at the red traffic light ahead.

The message was clear: Stop. Don’t you dare follow me.
