He Made Me Pay Half the Rent, While Giving Her Every Penny of His Bonus Chapter 07

Julian glanced at Mrs. Howard helplessly, then deliberately raised his voice. “Mom, Willow’s in one of her episodes again. Just ignore her.”

Mrs. Howard immediately clamped a hand over my mouth, pretending to look worried.

“Have you stopped taking your medication again? I’ve told you so many times, this illness requires regular treatment. You can’t skip your pills.”

She turned toward the camera, tears rolling down her face.

“My daughter-in-law is actually very kind to us most of the time.”

“It’s just that when her illness acts up, she can’t control herself. She always thinks someone is trying to harm her, or that Julian is cheating.”

“We’ve taken her to the doctor before. Severe delusional disorder. Paranoid personality

disorder…”

As she spoke, she tightened her grip on my hand. Her nails bit into my flesh, pain lancing up

my arm.

People nearby frowned and instinctively moved away from me, as if afraid they might catch

something.

“Folks with delusions often cook up entire memories. She might honestly believe everything

she’s saying…”

“Mr. Howard has it so hard. Being slandered by his wife like this and still protecting her. Mrs. Howard is pitiful too, having to take care of a mentally ill daughter-in-law.”

“She should be sent to a psychiatric hospital. Severe cases like this need mandatory

treatment.”

Julian lowered his gaze, his voice quiet and heavy. “She’s my wife. I don’t want to send her

away like that.”

I tore my hand free from Mrs. Howard and shouted at the crowd. “I’m not sick!”

The people around me all sighed.

“The sicker they are, the more they insist they’re fine.”

“Mr. Howard is too kind. Why keep a wife like this? Saving her for the holidays or what?”

“If she can fake evidence today to frame you, tomorrow she might stab you!”

“Send her to a psychiatric hospital!”

Vivian stood behind Julian, giving me a triumphant smile.

Mrs. Howard pulled out her phone and immediately started dialing.

“We can’t let her keep causing trouble. This time she fabricated evidence to frame Vivian.

What about next time? What if she actually hurts someone?”

Several people stepped forward voluntarily to restrain me.

“Why hasn’t someone sent her to a psychiatric hospital yet?”

“Hurry up and lock her up! Mentally ill people can kill someone and get away with it. That’s

terrifying!”

By the time the ambulance arrived, I had already been tightly bound. Just before they lifted

me onto the stretcher, Vivian leaned close to my ear and whispered so only I could hear.

“Now you’re certified nuts. No one will believe anything you say. You’ll never get out of there

for the rest of your life.”

As they prepared to load me into the ambulance, Mrs. Howard gently stroked my arm.

“Willow, go with the doctors and get proper treatment. It doesn’t matter how long it takes.”

My whole body was cold as they pushed me toward the ambulance. Then suddenly there was

a disturbance in the crowd.

Several uniformed officers pushed through the onlookers and walked straight toward us. Julian froze for a moment, then quickly tried to explain.

“Officers, this mentally unstable woman has already been restrained. There’s no need to-

The police officer cut him off immediately.

“Julian Howard and Vivian Stewart, you’re under arrest for suspicion in a three-year-old vehicular homicide case from three years ago, as well as a recent attempted murder. Please

come with us.”

Mrs. Howard’s hand slipped from my wrist.

“Officer!” she cried, rushing forward. “You’ve made a mistake! My son is a good man! It’s this

woman framing him! She’s sick! She’s mentally ill!”

The officer stepped aside to avoid her grasp and pulled a document from his folder.

“This is the original case file from the accident three years ago. The driver, Vivian Stewart,

was intoxicated behind the wheel and caused the death of Carl Lawrence.”

“The settlement agreement was not signed by the victim’s legal family member and is

therefore invalid.”

Mrs. Howard didn’t say another word. She collapsed to the ground. The officers quickly

untied me. The mob screaming about locking me up went dead quiet.
