He Left Me in the Snow for His First Love. So I Left His Marriage Chapter 03

The Ethan in front of me had his lips pressed into a straight line.

His brows were faintly drawn as he repeated, “I never thought about divorcing you.”

I looked out the window and said nothing.

He frowned.

The rest of the ride home was quiet.

Once we got inside, Ethan took off his coat.

I suddenly froze.

He followed my gaze to his shirt sleeve.

There was a streak of lipstick on it.

He froze too.

“This was an accident…”

I quickly looked away and turned to walk inside.

He grabbed me, his grip on my arm a little too tight.

“I really didn’t notice the lipstick mark. It must have rubbed on me by accident.”

I paused, nodded, and pulled free.

“I believe you.”

His hand stopped in midair before slowly curling into a fist.

I went upstairs to wash up, then lay on the bed and scrolled through my phone.

After a while, Ethan came in and sat on the other side of the bed.

He lowered his head and looked at me.

His hand reached for the ends of my hair.

The instant he touched me, I dodged.

His hand stopped awkwardly.

I shifted as if covering it up.

“It tickled.”

After a long moment, he hummed in response and pulled his hand back.

Then he said, “I’ll be in New York for the next few days. I don’t have plans at night either.”

I kept scrolling and nodded absentmindedly.

After Olivia came back, I had gone through a period of being overly sensitive.

I kept asking where he was going and who he was seeing.

Once, he snapped at me in irritation.

“If I really wanted something to happen with Olivia, what would it matter if you knew where I went every day or who I met?”

I stood frozen, as if someone had slapped me across the face. My cheeks burned, and my mind went blank.

After that, I never asked again.

When I gave no response, Ethan stared at me for a long time without moving.

Only when I lifted my head, raised a brow, and gave him a look that said, what is it, did he finally look away.

He turned off the light.

“Sleep.”

The room went dark.

But I could still feel his eyes on my back.

I pulled myself deeper under the blanket and shut my eyes tight.
