He Kissed His First Love in Front of My BLIND Eyes-Until I Watched Him Burn Chapter 05

The hospital corridor was empty.

I knew the layout. Avoided every camera and slipped out through the fire exit.

A black car waited at the back door.

A man in a suit opened the door for me with a respectful bow. “Miss Sinclair.”

I climbed in, stripped off the cheap hospital gown, and changed into the clothes I’d stashed.

In the mirror, a face with perfect makeup.

Not the weak, lost, empty Sloane anymore.

But the real Sloane Sinclair. The heiress.

Three years ago, someone framed my father’s company. Overnight bankruptcy. My dad couldn’t take it- he jumped. My mom was already sick, and the shock killed her.

On her deathbed, she asked her best friend, Cameron’s mother, Mrs. Hawthorne, to take care of me.

Mrs. Hawthorne felt for me. She fought the family and made me engaged to Cameron.

“Once you’re a Hawthorne wife,” she said, “nobody will dare hurt you.”

But she didn’t know her son would be the one who hurt me most.

And the blindness? That was his fault too.

Not long after the engagement, we argued. He shoved me off a balcohy. I hit my head. Retinal

detachment. Darkness.

Everyone thought I was blind.

Even Cameron.

Maybe out of guilt, maybe because his mother pressured him, he married me anyway.

But he took all his anger out on me.

He locked me in the attic, humiliated me daily, thinking that would ease his pathetic guilt.

He never knew my eyes healed.

And I was just waiting for my moment.

The moment I’d drag every last one of them to hell.

“Miss Sinclair, Sierra is… settled.” The driver was my father’s most loyal man. Frank Morrison.

“Good.” I stared out the window at the blurring streets.

“Where to now?”

“To see someone who can help me take the whole Hawthorne family down.”

The car stopped at a private club. Uncle Frank opened my door.

I walked inside, straight to the back room.

I pushed open the door.

A man sat on the couch, his back to me, calmly brewing tea.

He heard me and turned.

A face seven-tenths like Cameron’s-but softer. Wiser.

Landon.

He hadn’t been unconscious. He wasn’t hurt.

The man with the bandages in the hospital was a paid decoy.

The real Landon had been waiting here ever since he pulled me from the fire.

“Hey,” he said, smiling. He pushed a cup of tea across to me.

“Hey.” I sat down across from him.

“All the evidence is ready.” He slid a manila envelope toward me. “Cameron and his father- embezzlement, insider trading, years of it. Accounts, recordings. All here.”

I opened the envelope and skimmed.

There was even their plan to drain the company and move assets offshore.

“Thanks,” I said, tucking the file away.

“It’s nothing.” Landon looked at me, worry in his eyes. “You’re really going through with this? Once this

goes to the authorities, the Hawthorne name is done. Including… me.”

“You and your mother. I’ll protect you.” I held his gaze. “I owe you that.”

Landon laughed bitterly. “That’s not what I mean. I just… I don’t want to see hate eat you alive.”

“I’m not being eaten,” I said calmly. “I’m clearer than I’ve ever been. They owe me. They owe my father.

And they’re going to pay double.”

My eyes must have been ice because Landon went quiet.

Finally, he sighed. “Okay. When do you pull the trigger?”

“Not yet.” I lifted the tea, blew on it. “Before I finish them off, I want Cameron to suffer. Worse than

dying.”

I want him to watch everything he loves fall apart-piece by piece.

I want him to pay for every stupid, cruel thing he’s done.
