He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 07

He Gave Her a Wedding, So I Named My Gown Farewell Chapter 07

Working and studying part-time in Milan was hard.

But that kind of full, steady life made me feel safe.

It also helped me find the confidence I had before I fell in love with Adrian Shaw.

One day, when I returned to the studio, Depp called me into his office.

“Registration for the thirtieth Global Bridal Design Competition is about to open. Are you planning to enter this time?”

“When?”

“Registration closes next week.”

“So soon? You might as well have told me the day before the deadline.”

I crossed my arms, not thrilled.

“I was worried you might be scared. You haven’t joined a competition this big in years. I figured you’d formally compete after graduation.”

“But only competitions like this can make me a top designer. If I miss one, I lose one chance.”

“Do you have inspiration now? Can you draw a draft in a week?”

I paused and looked out the window for a while.

“Three days.”

“What?”

“I said I’ll give you the draft in three days.”

I went back to my apartment and locked myself in to create.

I had drawn this design before.

I had torn it up in the end.

But every detail had been carved deep into my mind.

Three days later, I handed the sketch to Depp.

“My God. A talent monster really is a talent monster. You’re too much. Three days, and you finished something this good?”

I sat on the couch and smugly brushed my hair back.

“Obviously.”

Depp suddenly tilted his head and looked at me with meaning in his eyes.

“I noticed…”

I looked back at him cautiously.

“What are you doing? Don’t notice anything. I’m not interested in you.”

Depp frowned.

“What are you thinking? I meant you’ve changed so much in the year you’ve been here.”

“I still remember the day you arrived in Milan. I went to pick you up, and when you walked out of arrivals, you looked so dead inside. Like you’d just come from a funeral.”

I gave an awkward laugh.

“Let’s not bring up the past.”

Depp laughed too.

“Fine. No more joking. Let’s talk business. What are you naming this main gown?”

I stared at the sketch in Depp’s hand for a long time.

“When I first designed this dress, I wanted to wear it for my wedding with Ad… for my own wedding. Later, the wedding didn’t happen, and the relationship ended.”

“Since you said I looked like I had just come from a funeral, I’ll use it to bury those unbearable seven years.”

“I’ll call it Farewell.”

Soon, the wedding dress Farewell went viral around the world.

It won me first place in the Global Bridal Design Competition.

I went from an unknown young designer to a top bridal chief designer almost overnight.

My advanced studies in Milan were coming to an end too.

On graduation day, Depp asked me, “What’s your plan after this? Go back to the States, or stay in Milan?”

“Back to the States, of course. I should contribute at home. What about you? You’ve been here for so many years. Are you really not going back to visit?”

“I want to. I’ve wanted to for a long time. I was just waiting for you to graduate. This works perfectly. We’ll make the final stop of your global bridal exhibition back home.”

The global tour began.

I followed it around the world.

More than half a year passed before I returned to the States.

But I didn’t choose the city where I had once lived for the exhibition.

Since it was called Farewell, the break had to be clean.

On the first day of the U.S. exhibition, guests came in endless waves.

I was greeting people inside the venue when my assistant walked over and whispered beside my ear.

“Boss, there’s a gentleman over there who says he’s an old friend. He wants to see you.”

I followed her gaze.

Adrian Shaw stood beside Farewell, looking at me.
