He Gave Her a Million-Dollar House, He Gave Me a 5000 Monthly Allowance Chapter 04

The luxury single-family home sat inside an upscale gated community, complete with a garden terrace. This was the exact dream home Pierce and I had imagined countless times.

Pierce’s mother answered the door, holding a four-year-old boy in her arms. Julian’s features mirrored Pierce’s perfectly.

Her expression turned cold the second she saw me—until Melissa called her Mom. She brightened instantly, urging Melissa to have pudding from the kitchen.

They acted like genuine mother and daughter.

No matter how hard I’d tried to win over Pierce’s mother all these years, she’d always been cold and distant toward me. Her loyalty had long belonged to someone else.

The house was warm and tastefully decorated. There stood the dishwasher I’d wanted for ages, the one I’d never been able to afford.

A huge framed family portrait hung prominently in the center of the living room. Pierce and Melissa smiled happily in the photograph. None of the forced desperation Pierce had described was visible.

When he noticed me staring at the portrait, Pierce pulled me aside into the guest bedroom—Julian’s usual room.

“Julian’s sleeping with us tonight. You can stay here.”

I scanned the room. It was modest, filled with obvious care.

Every sharp corner was lined with soft padding; I recognized Pierce’s handiwork immediately. He was skilled at meticulous handmade work.

Glow-in-the-dark star stickers covered the ceiling. The children’s books were deluxe illustrated editions, and the nightlight was a top-of-the-line eye-protection lamp.

Pierce went to shower. Melissa walked in carrying a bowl of pudding, along with a stack of official documents.

She dropped the pretense at last, looking straight at me. “Do you like Pierce’s and my house?”

She flipped open the paperwork. “This property cost $29.8 million. Pierce paid in full, and it’s registered solely under my name.”

“Part of that money came from the savings you scraped together for your future. Remember when he said his mother was critically ill three years ago and needed emergency cash? All that money went straight here.” She shook the documents lightly.

“Think about all the times he delayed your wedding by claiming he didn’t have enough money. Every single time, it was because of me and Julian. Honestly, I can’t help feeling sorry for you whenever I watch you struggle to save for that impossible wedding fund.”

I froze. She smiled and pulled out a marriage license from the drawer. “We got this license last month, Pierce and me.”

“So, Nicole.” Melissa’s tone stayed calm as she met my gaze. “Don’t look at me like that. Legally speaking, you’re the outsider with no standing.”

Wave after wave of revelations knocked me sideways. Before I could process everything, Melissa pulled a hospital blood donation slip up on her phone.

“Do you remember the blood you gave Pierce when you first got pregnant? That blood was for me. I suffered severe anemia during that pregnancy. Pierce panicked and lied about getting into a car crash to trick you into donating blood.”

“Your body was already fragile from pregnancy. Losing that blood is what triggered your miscarriage. Funny, isn’t it? Even when both of us were pregnant, Pierce valued my child more than yours.”

She stepped closer. “Thank you, my dearest best friend. Your baby’s life saved my son Julian.”

Fury ignited inside me. I lifted my hand to push Melissa away.

Julian had slipped into the room unnoticed. He sank his teeth hard into my already wounded calf. Agony ripped through me as my torn wound reopened. I kicked him away instinctively.

The pain made me stagger. I crouched down to check my injury, but Pierce grabbed me roughly. A heavy slap landed across my cheek.

A harsh ringing drowned out all thought in my head.

“Nicole, this is my home. What do you think you’re doing making a scene here?”

I locked eyes with him. Hearing him call this place “his home” sent tears spilling down my cheeks despite everything.

Julian hid behind his grandmother, pointing at me and screaming, “Mean lady! You hurt my mom!”

Pierce’s mother rushed inside. She held Julian tightly, comforting him while screaming insults, calling me a homewrecker woman out to destroy her son’s family.

Pierce examined Melissa for injuries; fresh red marks had appeared on her wrists out of nowhere. “Pierce, don’t blame Nicole. She just found all these documents and lost her temper.”

Melissa hadn’t finished speaking before Pierce struck me again. The blow sent me crashing backward into the edge of the table. I collapsed onto the floor.

“You dare attack people inside our house? Have I been far too lenient with you, Nicole? Melissa has always been frail. I never let her lift a finger. How could you hurt her?”

“Your house?” I spat out each word.

“Yes. This is my home. Melissa’s and mine. She is the woman of this house, and I won’t let anyone challenge her place.”

“Nicole… I’ll be honest with you. I grew tired of you a long time ago. I only stayed because I felt guilty about wasting seven years of your youth. I’ve been patient.”

“I’ll lay all my cards on the table today. Melissa is the only woman I will ever call my wife. If you agree to our arrangement, I can buy you a condo of your own, hire drivers and maids, and provide all the money you need. I can divide my time between you both. Don’t ask for anything more.”
