He Fell For My Sister From A Class Photo Chapter 02

That day at the school gate, when my sister brushed him off coldly, it only made him chase her harder.

It wasn’t until a week later, when my sister asked me to grab her takeout, that I realized they were already dating.

I delivered the fancy takeout box to her dorm.

She was propped against the headboard, checking out her freshly done nails.

Vivienne tilted her chin at me casually. “There are two inside. Ethan bought cakes.”

She said, “Take the mango one.”

I paused before asking, “…Ethan Sterling?”

She hummed, looking at me. “My new boyfriend. The guy who cornered us at the gate that day.”

A crushing wave of helplessness washed over me.

My sister always had people falling for her without even trying—our parents, our friends, anyone who so much as glanced her way.

Even… from Ethan, the guy I’d known online for two years.

I lowered my head and whispered, “But weren’t you dating that lawyer guy just last month?”

“Dumped him,” Vivienne said breezily. “Ethan’s pretty generous, and he’s relentless. He pops up everywhere I go on campus, swearing he knows me from somewhere.”

“Probably some new pickup tactic.”

As she spoke, she suddenly leaned in and flashed a number at me.

“In one week, he’s already spent this much on me.”

400,000 dollars.

I stared at the number and gave a bitter, helpless smile. “Generous, that’s for sure.”

It was like all those times my online crush sent me cash gifts out of the blue.

If he was happy, he’d send money. If he was upset? Same thing. Always five figures minimum, every single time.

But I never accepted a cent of it.

I’m not like my sister.

Online, I could pretend to be outgoing and sharp, like I had it all together.

But in real life, living in her shadow, I was always insecure.

Even after talking nonstop for two years, I never felt like I deserved to take his money.

“I transferred 50,000 to your card,” Vivienne said suddenly.

I looked down at her breathtakingly beautiful face.

She could effortlessly win everyone’s love.

But the only person she ever truly softened up for was me.

She truly loved me as her sister.

Whenever she got something good, she’d split it with me.

So I couldn’t even bring myself to hate her.

Heading downstairs, I grabbed her trash on the way out.

After tossing it in the bin, I turned around and nearly jumped out of my skin.

Staring at Ethan right in front of me, I stammered, “…What do you want?”

His gaze dropped lightly, skimming the fancy cake box in my hand.

Before I left, Vivienne didn’t want the chocolate one either and told me to take both and share with my roommates.

Now, caught under his gaze, I awkwardly tried to hide the box behind me.

But he just quirked the corner of his mouth, completely unfazed.

“Just have it,” he said.

Then he asked, “You went to see her?”

I gave a low hum.

He muttered under his breath, “No wonder she’s not texting me back.”

I lowered my eyes.

For all his cold, distant act, this guy was unbelievably clingy.

Back when I was a senior in high school, I had to hide my phone all the time.

I’d reply to his flood of messages during breaks.

I once asked if he had separation anxiety.

He sent me a question mark.

Then said: [You’re my girlfriend. Who else am I supposed to cling to?]

He also said back then: [When we finally meet, I’m not letting you out of my sight for a single second.]
