He Faked His Death for My Trust Fund. So I Planned My Own Goodbye. Chapter 07

“Julian!”

“Mr. Hayes!”

Shouts rang out around him.

People crowded in, calling for an ambulance.

Tessa had already recorded the whole scene and sent the video to me.

She added a voice message.

“Mina, this finally feels good.”

“You should’ve seen that awful man’s face when he heard you’d disappeared from the pier.”

“If I wasn’t trying to keep the act going, I would’ve recorded it for you right then.”

“But this part is pretty good too. He actually made himself throw up blood.”

“He’s probably losing his mind with regret right now.”

I watched a few seconds, then closed the video.

I smiled.

“Thanks, Tessa.”

I wasn’t actually dead.

I hadn’t really jumped into the sea.

It was all a fake disappearance Tessa and I had planned together.

Since Julian could fake a plane crash and pretend to be dead to trick me…

Why couldn’t I do the same thing back?

Even if I couldn’t make him feel the guilt and pain I’d carried for half a year…

At least I could take the trust fund and disappear from their lives forever.

I put down my phone and looked around.

I’d been in Switzerland for two weeks now.

This Lake Geneva villa had been left to me by Grandpa Everett.

It would be my home from now on.

On the photo wall in the living room hung a picture I’d once sent Grandpa Everett.

It showed me and Julian cuddling by the sea.

It had been taken two years ago.

We looked so innocent.

Smiling so brightly.

That was the day Julian held me and said tenderly.

“Minnow, let’s get married right after we graduate, okay?”

But he’d lied to me.

He and Camille had approached me from the start for Grandpa Everett’s trust fund.

The marriage talk was fake too.

The most ridiculous part was they’d made me take counterfeit medication to fake cancer symptoms.

The day I faked my discharge, I used a new identity and went to a hospital abroad for a check-up.

After stopping the pills…

My body was completely normal.

Julian, you’ve lied to me for so long.

This game is over.

Only this time…

I’m the one ending it.

That night, Julian had a nightmare.

He dreamed I came back for him.

I wore white, hair loose, standing in front of him asking,

“Julian, why did you lie to me?”

“You weren’t dead. Why did you tell me you died in that plane crash?”

“You traitor! Come with me!”

“Ah… Mina, I’m sorry!”

Julian woke up screaming.

He sat in bed, covered in cold sweat, still unable to calm down.

Camille heard the noise and looked at him with a pale face.

“Mina again? Why are you dreaming about Mina?”

“Wasn’t Mina just a tool for the trust fund? Why can’t you forget her?”

Camille had been tormented these past few days too.

She couldn’t get past it either.

Although their goal had been the same from the beginning, getting close to me for the money…

They hadn’t actually wanted me dead.

They hadn’t pushed me into the sea themselves.

But my “disappearance” was something they’d pushed me toward step by step.

As long as they had any humanity left, the guilt would eat at them.

Julian stayed silent for a long time, then spoke.

“Camille, let’s get a divorce.”
