He Drew $9 For Our Wedding. Another Man Offered a Million Chapter 07

His voice was rough.

“Lena, stop it. I know your father’s passing was hard.”

“But I can be with you.”

I said nothing.

Blair stepped forward, holding her burned arm, “Lena, can you drop the act?”

“You just want Finn to feel guilty so he gives you more money.”

“Yes, we were wrong about your father’s condition.”

“But you need to look at yourself too.”

“Five years together-how many times did you ask for money?”

“Your father’s gone. Take what you can get and move on.”

She glanced at me up and down, “And don’t worry. Your father’s death won’t be cheap.”

“Finn’s been running around looking for you.”

Every word was a needle.

Not deep, but sickening.

I looked at her,

“The only value of my father’s death was showing me how filthy and arrogant you really are.’

“Go home-your lawyer’s letter should be arriving soon.”

Blair’s face changed, “What are you talking about?”

I turned to leave, calling for a car.

Finn grabbed my wrist, “Lena, why are you helping him? You know—”

I pulled free.

I took out disinfectant and sprayed it on my skin.

It burned.

I sprayed more-until his touch was completely erased.

I looked at him coldly, “When I needed help, Julian transferred a million dollars to me without hesitating.”

“He bought five years of my time.”

“That’s when I realized-my five years were worth a million.”

“Not a thousand draws under ten dollars.”

I got in the car.

Julian stopped Finn from grabbing me again,

“One more touch and I’ll send you another lawyer’s letter.’

Fury burned in Finn’s eyes, “What right do you have to speak for her?”

He raised his hand to strike.

I stepped out and stood in front of Julian.

This time, I stood against Finn.

His voice cracked with pain, “I can give you a million too.”

“Is this really how we end? Don’t you still feel something for me?”

I stared back, empty, “Of course I do. Hate.”

In the car, I kept my distance from Julian.

“Thank you, Mr. Ashford. But next time, you don’t need to interfere.”

“I can handle him.”

He rubbed his temples and laughed softly, “I know you can.”

“But I keep wanting to help. Must be that hero complex-Fused to love Captain America.’

I looked away, “You helped me when I needed it most.”

“I’m grateful. But that’s all.”

I knew how he felt. We were equals in college.

I chose Finn. You pay for your choices.

He sighed and said nothing.

At home, my mother looked better.

“What’s wrong?” she asked gently.

I smiled, “Don’t worry, Mom.”

“Everyone who hurt us-I’ll make sure they pay.”

I hope my father can see.

His daughter no longer begs for love. She’s stronger now.
