He Divorced Me Six Years Ago Without Me Knowing Chapter 12

Where was he supposed to find Sophia?

What was the name of that former law school upperclassman of hers again?

Julian stood there for a while before sending Sophia’s photo to a friend in Southport and asking him to help find her. Only then did he take a cab to his hotel.

As the car merged into traffic, Julian leaned back in his seat and looked out at the unfamiliar city. Suddenly, another thought came to him.

Sophia’s grandmother probably had not been buried yet.

With that in mind, he immediately messaged a friend and asked him to arrange a good burial plot.

After sending the message, Julian held his phone, finally feeling a little steadier.

He thought he had properly handled her grandmother’s final arrangements. As long as he apologized to Sophia with enough sincerity, she loved him so much that she would probably forgive him.

The next day, a soft drizzle fell over Southport.

Julian’s friend soon sent him a message.

His friend: [Sophia is at the hospital.]

A location pin was attached beneath it.

Julian stared at the screen, his brows tightening.

Why was Sophia at the hospital?

Had she still not recovered from the abortion?

At the thought of the child who had never had the chance to come into this world, another sharp pain twisted through his chest. He quickly hailed a cab and rushed to the hospital.

By coincidence, the moment he got out of the car, he saw Sophia walking out through the hospital entrance.

What irritated him was the man standing beside her: Ethan Walker, Sophia’s former law school

upperclassman.

At that moment, Ethan was thoughtfully holding an umbrella over Sophia. The two of them stood close together, looking so intimate they could have been a couple.

A surge of anger shot through Julian’s chest.

He strode up the steps, shoved Ethan aside, and pulled Sophia under his own umbrella.

“Sir, you…”

Sophia thought a stranger had mistaken her for someone else, but the instant she lifted her eyes, she unexpectedly met Julian’s gaze

The moment their eyes met, Julian’s were filled with longing so intense it seemed impossible to hide, along with the satisfaction of recovering something he had lost.

Sophia’s face held only naked disgust and hatred.

“Sophia, I finally found you…”

Before Julian could finish, Sophia shoved him away and took a step back. Her voice was cold enough to cut “Julian, what are you doing here?”

Ethan stepped forward in time and held the umbrella over her again, shielding her from the falling drizzle.

“Sophia…”

Julian froze for a second before his expression darkened and he turned to Ethan. “Have you two been together these past few days?”

“That has nothing to do with you.”

Sophia forced down the hatred surging inside her and turned to leave.

Julian grabbed her wrist.

“Sophia, I know about the abortion.”

His voice dropped, low and hoarse. “I also know your grandmother passed away. I’m sorry.”

Bringing those wounds up again made every word from Julian feel like a dull knife, tearing open the pain Sophia had buried deep inside her.

Ethan noticed her face turning pale and immediately shoved Julian away. His voice went cold. “Julian, did

you come all this way just to hurt Sophia all over again?”

“Of course not.”

Julian steadied himself and looked at Ethan with a dark, heavy gaze. “Thank you for taking care of my wife these past few days. But I’m taking her home now.”

The words landed like the most absurd joke Sophia had ever heard.

She actually laughed, though her heart ached so badly it seemed to tremble.

“Your wife?”

Sophia repeated the words, then slowly lifted her head and looked straight at Julian. There was not a trace

of warmth in her eyes. “Julian, how can you even say that? Have you forgotten? Six years ago, you already tricked me into signing divorce papers.”

Julian’s expression stiffened. Regret and grief quickly flooded his eyes.

“Sophia, what happened six years ago really was an accident.”

He avoided her gaze and spoke slowly. “Claire wasn’t just my first love. She was the one who was with me when I clawed my way out of that small town and made it to Riverton.”

“After I helped her get divorced, I really only meant to look after her like family, but…”

Julian’s voice dropped. “But then something happened, and she got pregnant with my child.”

His voice grew quieter. “Claire was in poor health. If she terminated the pregnancy, she might never be able to have another child.”

Sophia let out a scornful laugh. “So not only did you not ask her to end the pregnancy, but you also tricked me into signing the divorce agreement.”
