He Divorced Me Six Years Ago Without Me Knowing Chapter 02

Early the next morning, when Sophia came out of the bedroom, Julian had already left.

On the dining table sat a lonely sandwich and a glass of milk.

Just then, her phone lit up. A message came in from an unknown number.

Unknown number: [Ms. Bennett, you didn’t make breakfast today, did you? My son still prefers your sandwiches.]

Sophia stared at the words, her fingers tightening around her phone inch by inch.

After she changed careers, she had far more time on her hands, so she personally made breakfast for Julian every day.

One day, he casually mentioned that her sandwiches were good. After that, he often asked her to make a few extra.

Sophia had thought Julian was bringing them to his coworkers, so she had never asked.

It turned out he had been bringing them to the woman he kept on the side and their illegitimate son.

Sophia took a deep breath and barely managed to suppress the emotions surging inside her when she heard movement from the front entryway.

She looked up and saw Julian.

Claire and the boy were beside him.

Sophia’s fingers unconsciously tightened around the hem of her clothes.

Before she could recover from her daze, Julian had already walked up to her with the child in one arm and his other arm around Claire.

“From now on, we’re keeping our relationship out of the public eye.”

Julian’s tone was flat. “Someone with an agenda clipped your livestream from yesterday and spread it online. It’s hurting Claire. I’ve already posted a statement saying we’re divorced.”

Before Sophia could even process what he had just said, he added, “I’m going to drop the child off at school first. Remember to post a clarification as soon as possible.”

With that, he turned around with his arm around Claire and left without looking back.

Sophia stood frozen in place for a long while before finally picking up her phone.

On social media, Julian’s statement was displayed in glaring clarity.

[Ms. Bennett and I have divorced due to an irreparable breakdown in our relationship. Ms. Morgan was not the other woman. She is the girl I grew up with and my current wife. Please stop maliciously attacking her.]

The comments had already gone nuclear.

Some people speculated that Sophia had stolen Julian from Claire back then, which was why Julian and Claire, childhood sweethearts who had grown up together, never ended up together.

Others guessed that after Julian married Sophia, he had failed to resist Claire’s temptation and cheated.

There was also a top-liked comment pretending to be from someone who knew the inside story.

[I know what happened back then. Claire stood by Julian from the days when he was just a small-town scholarship kid trying to test his way into a better life until he made it in Riverton. Sophia forced her way in and caused a misunderstanding between them. Julian had no choice but to marry Sophia, and once the misunderstanding was cleared up, he quickly asked for a divorce.]

Driven by that comment, all the abuse turned completely against Sophia.

Looking at those filthy, vicious words, Sophia only found the whole thing absurd.

When she met Julian, Claire had already married and moved overseas.

How could Sophia possibly have destroyed their relationship?

Sophia gripped her phone and typed out, word by word, the full timeline of how she and Julian had met and fallen in love.

She also wrote out how Julian had cheated on her with Claire during their marriage and had a five-year-old illegitimate son with her.

Sophia could divorce Julian, but she would never carry this disgrace for him.

After posting her clarification, Sophia took the divorce agreement and drove straight to the courthouse where Julian worked.

When she got out of the car, passersby began pointing at her and whispering.

Sophia had no idea what was going on, so she forced herself to ignore their strange looks.

Then a bucket of rancid kitchen slop came pouring down from above, drenching her from head to toe.

The person who had thrown it was actually one of her former clients.

The woman pointed at Sophia and cursed, “Sophia, you bitch! No wonder you couldn’t help me recover all the money my husband spent on his mistress. Turns out you’re a shameless mistress yourself!”

Sophia was soaked through. The sour stink of rancid kitchen slop hit her full in the face, leaving her shocked and utterly bewildered.

This client’s husband had been extremely careful. Every cent he had spent on his mistress had gone through seemingly legitimate channels. Sophia had worked tirelessly to find evidence and help the client recover most of the marital assets.

After the case ended, the client had even thanked her personally. Why was she turning around and cursing her now?

“Still pretending to be innocent? Everyone knows you shamelessly chased Judge Hayes for six years and threw yourself at him as the other woman!”

Seeing the confusion on Sophia’s face, the woman shoved her phone right in front of her.

On the screen was Julian’s latest clarification.

[Ms. Bennett and I ended our marriage six years ago. She refused to accept it and has continued to harass me. Please do not be misled by malicious rumors.]

Attached below were his divorce decree from Sophia and his marriage certificate with Claire. Both were dated six years ago.
