He Designed A Dream Dress For Her, He Never Designed One For Me Chapter 07

He Designed A Dream Dress For Her, He Never Designed One For Me Chapter 07

I told the housekeeper to send him away and retreated to the bedroom at the far end of the house.

I had never expected him to come back.

I no longer wanted to see him.

“Mr. Mercer, Mrs. Hayes isn’t home. Please leave.”

The housekeeper lied in an attempt to make him go away.

Julian shoved the door open and barged inside. He clearly didn’t believe her.

“You’re lying. Elise is here.”

The housekeeper tried to push him back outside, but Julian planted himself in the doorway.

“I’m not leaving. I came to see Elise. You have no right to keep me out.”

“I’m going to see her today.”

The housekeeper fought to block the entrance.

“Ms. Bennett doesn’t want to see you. Stop harassing her.”

“If you try to force your way in again, I’ll call the police.”

Only a few days had passed, but Julian’s face was covered in dark bruises.

Ignoring the pain, he caught sight of me through the gap in the doorway and began pleading.

“Elise, please let me in. I’m not asking for anything else. I only want you to see the gown.”

“I’ve spent the last few days designing it for you. You said you wanted it white, simple, and long-sleeved. I

remembered all of it.”

“It’s finished now. No matter what, I just want you to look at it once. If you do, I won’t have any regrets.

As he spoke, he removed the gown from the garment bag.

A long-sleeved mermaid gown unfurled toward the floor, exactly like the dress I had once dreamed of.

It was pure white and matched every detail I had wanted.

Yet somehow, I felt nothing.

There had been a time when seeing it would have left me too excited to sleep. Now I was perfectly calm.

I walked out of the bedroom.

“I’ve seen it. Put it away.”

“Julian, this is exactly the kind of wedding gown I used to want.”

“But now, for some reason, looking at it doesn’t make me feel anything. Take it with you.”

Julian’s hands froze in midair as he held the gown. He stood there in silence for a long time.

“Some things are lost for good once you miss your chance. We have to move on.”

“I’m letting you go, so let me go too. Mia can have all of you now. You and I are even.”

Julian’s eyes suddenly reddened.

He carefully returned the gown to its garment bag, then handed it to the housekeeper and asked her to put it away carefully.

“Elise, have you really thought this through? Nathan doesn’t love you.”

“Do you honestly think you can spend the rest of your life with a man who doesn’t love you? Your marriage will never last. I’m the only man who truly loves you.”

Rain was pouring outside when Nathan opened the front door.

“Who says Nathan doesn’t love me? He treats me well. He would never make me go an entire week without seeing him.”

“He gave me a wedding, a home, and a peaceful life.”

“I used to think love had to hurt to be real. Then I learned that real love is the quiet happiness of an ordinary

life.”

“So stop coming here and harassing me. We’re truly over.”

Julian refused to accept it and stepped in front of me.

“I never wanted things to end up like this either. Let me stay beside you from now on.”

“I want to take care of you and make everything up to you. I want to atone for what I did.”

“You don’t have to worry about Mia. I can take care of both of you.”

I sighed

“Julian, you design wedding gowns. You should understand better than anyone that there is no room for a third person in a marriage.”

“I refuse to share a partner with anyone else. So leave.”

I turned away without looking at him again.

Julian had once said those same things to me, back when he still loved fashion design with all his heart.

He used to say that whatever lived in a designer’s heart would find its way into the clothes they created. If a third person corrupted the love behind a wedding gown, the design would become ugly too.

Nathan’s security team forcibly removed Julian from the house.

Julian didn’t return over the next several days, but his upcoming bridal shows were abruptly canceled.

None of the new gowns scheduled for release were unveiled.

People began asking about Julian online, and rumors spread that he could no longer create anything new.

[No way. He’s only thirty and already washed up? I was hoping to buy one of his new gowns when I got married. How can he be out of ideas already?]

[Apparently he was two-timing his first love with his assistant. She found out, dumped him, and married someone else. The shock hit him so hard that he can’t design anything new.]

[Oh my God. Wedding gowns are supposed to represent pure love, and the man who designs them was two-timing his girlfriend? That’s disgusting.]

Overnight, the backlash exploded across social media.

Julian offered no explanation and made no attempt to clarify the rumors.

He simply announced that he would never release another new design.
