He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 11

He Delayed My Delivery for His Widow’s Son? Meet the Veyron Heiress! Chapter 11

Nikolai really did it — he sold everything.

Properties, shares, art collections, private yachts. Even the Rosetti estate was listed for sale.

The once untouchable Rosetti heir moved into a small apartment.

He drank all day and wandered through the cemetery.

Sometimes he slept in front of “my” grave, muttering to himself.

About business. About the family. About those little things between us that had once seemed so insignificant.

More often, he simply sat there.

For an entire day at a time.

Bianca once went to see him and called him insane.

“You gave up everything for a dead woman?”

“What about Father?”

“What about Luca?”

Nikolai looked at her as if he no longer knew her at all.

“What about her?”

“What about my daughter?”

Bianca had no answer.

She left crying and never appeared at the cemetery again.

By the third month, even I had grown tired of watching the surveillance.

The satisfaction I had felt when his company collapsed? It had long since faded.

What remained was emptiness.

And a strange sadness I did not want to admit.

My father asked me, “Have you seen enough?”

“Come home, Aurelia. The Veyron family needs you.”

I nodded. “Tomorrow.”

After a pause, I added, “Tonight, I want to visit the cemetery.”

My father’s face darkened.

“Too dangerous.”

“Nikolai has nothing left to lose.”

“If he finds out you’re alive…”

“He won’t.”

I cut him off.

“I’ll keep my distance. I only want to see him one last time.”

“Then it will be over.”

The room stayed silent for a long time.

At last, my father nodded.

“Take guards with you. If anything feels wrong, leave immediately.”

The cemetery was quiet at night.

I stood in the shadows, watching Nikolai slump beside my tombstone.

He had lost a great deal of weight. There was much more white in his hair.

He held a bottle of liquor, drinking as he murmured in a low voice.

“I went to see a therapist today.”

“He said I have post-traumatic stress and severe depression. He gave me a pile of medication.”

“I told him I don’t need medicine.”

“I just miss you.”

“I miss the breakfast you made.”

“I miss you scolding me for drinking too much.”

“I miss the way you touched your belly and said the baby had just kicked you…”

He took a drink and suddenly began coughing hard.

It took him a long time to catch his breath.

“But I’m starting to forget.”

“Your voice, your face, the way you looked when you smiled…”

“Everything is fading little by little.”

“If one day I forget even you, what will I have left?”

He leaned against the tombstone, shoulders shaking, and finally began to cry.

I turned to leave.

But my foot accidentally kicked a small stone.

Nikolai’s head snapped up.

“Who is there?”

I stopped.

He used the tombstone to push himself up and staggered toward me.

One of my guards stepped forward, ready to take me away.

I shook my head.

I had hidden long enough.

It was time for this absurd marriage to have a real ending.

Nikolai stopped at the edge of the shadows.

Moonlight fell across my face.

His eyes widened as if he had seen a ghost.

“You…”

“It’s me.”

My voice was calm.

“Surprised?”

Nikolai opened his mouth, but not a single word came out.

He only stared at me – first in shock, then confusion.

At last, a wild and desperate hope lit his eyes.

He lunged toward me, trying to grab me.

My guard immediately stepped between us.

“You’re alive!”

“I knew it. I knew you couldn’t be dead.”

He tried to shove past the guard, but was blocked firmly.

Only then did he notice the four men in black suits guarding me from both sides.

Nikolai froze. “Who are they?”

“My people.”

The flash of joy on his face vanished instantly.

At last, he truly looked at me.

Designer suit. Refined makeup. Expressionless face. I was nothing like the gentle, quiet wife in his memory.

“Who are you?”

I almost laughed.

“Then let me introduce myself again.”

“Aurelia Veyron.”

“Eldest daughter of the Veyron family.”

“And the next heir.”

Nikolai staggered back as if he had been struck.

“Impossible…”

“You said you were nobody.”

“I lied.”

It was that simple.

“My father forbade me from marrying you.”

“He said you would devour me until nothing was left.”

“I didn’t believe him.”

“Turns out he was right.”

Nikolai kept shaking his head. “So Rosetti’s downfall? That was you.”

“Yes.”

My face did not change.

“My father handled most of it.”

“He said anyone who touched his daughter had to pay.”

“I agreed.”

Nikolai’s eyes reddened little by little.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“If I had known your real identity, I would never have—”

“Never have what?”

I cut him off.

“Treated me a little better?”

“Let me live?”

“Stop lying to yourself, Nikolai.”

“You liked that I was easy to control. You liked that I could only rely on you.”

“If you had known the Veyron family stood behind me, you would never have married me.”

“Maybe you would even have removed me yourself and taken my family.”

Nikolai fell silent.

Because he could not refute it.

He could not.

His pain lasted only a few seconds.

Soon, that pain turned into hatred.

“So you were playing me the entire time.”

“You watched me break down, go bankrupt, and lose everything?!”

“Did that make you happy?”

I shook my head.

“No.”

“Watching you suffer did not make me happy at all.”

“I only thought…”

I paused.

“It was fair.”

Nikolai let out an ugly, bitter laugh.

“Fair?”

“Don’t make yourself sound so noble.”

“If you had told me the truth from the beginning, none of this would have happened!”

“Yes, I was wrong. I made mistakes.”

“But you lied too! You destroyed me!”

“You are worse than I am!”

He charged forward.

Within seconds, my guards had him restrained and pinned to the ground.

Nikolai struggled desperately, shouting himself hoarse.

“Aurelia! You’ll regret this!”

“I curse you!”

“I curse you to hell!”

One of my men raised his hand and knocked him unconscious.

The world finally went quiet.

“Miss, how should we handle him?”

I looked down at the unconscious Nikolai.

After a long silence, I said, “Send him back.”

“Make sure he never sees me again.”
