He Could See My Comments, I Used Them To Tease Him Chapter 08

I didn’t answer, just took a deep breath.

“The breakfast, the desserts, all of it–stop

sending them from now on. We’re not anything to

each other. It’s not appropriate.”

He sat down on his chair, head lowered, voice

rough.

“Alright.”

And he really did stop. Looking at my empty desk,

I felt a faint pang of loss–but not much.

I didn’t open the comment panel to type anything

anymore either.

Life went on pretty much the same, but something.

kept nagging at me.

Especially when I felt that burning stare stuck to

my back and turned around to find only the top of

his lowered head.

“Why’re you in such a bad mood today?” Cathie

poked my cheek. “Still haven’t made up with your little boyfriend?”

My eyes went wide. “What are you talking about?

When did I ever…”

She pursed her lips.

“I heard ages ago you were seeing someone. Wasn’t that tall, good–looking guy your boyfriend? Weren’t you two fighting about something back then?”

I was speechless.

“Where do you even hear this stuff? Weren’t you the one everyone gossiped about, dressed up like

that all the time…”

My words caught in my throat. Something flickered through my mind.

A guy came running over from a distance, eyes bright, barreling toward us like an over–excited

golden retriever.

“Cathie! Hey!”

Cathie looked surprised. I whispered a hint to her.

“Karson. Your biggest fan.”

She was always strutting around, flirting with

everyone—I knew she wouldn’t remember half of

them.

She blinked, then beamed. “Oh, Karson! Long time

no see.”

Karson looked like he might actually pass out

from happiness. Stuck between the two of them, I rolled my eyes.

Looking up, I caught sight of a figure in the

distance.

Silas stood there, silent, his face pale as paper.

I frowned. Was the sun really that harsh today? He

looked terrible.

He stood rooted to the spot.

Then Cathie tugged on my arm. “Let’s go home.”

Karson waved goodbye reluctantly, staring after

us like a lovesick puppy.

But my mind was a mess.

What was that look from Silas?

Like he’d just been handed a death sentence.
