He Chose His Son Over His Mafia Queen Chapter 07

I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

After a brief silence, I said coolly, “You don’t need to call me Mommy ”

“Look, I loathe your biological mother. But if you turn your back on her too, she’ll have absolutely no one

left in her corner.”

Marco’s eyes instantly welled with tears.

Lowering his head, he murmured under his breath, “Auntie Freya, but I don’t know what else to do…”

“I promise to call you Mommy from now on. Can you please ask Papa to stop making things so hard for my real mommy?”

Only then did I realize the truth.

After I left, Matteo had completely stripped away his mask of mercy and ruthlessly targeted Sofia.

He ensured she couldn’t find a decent job, forcing her into a corner until she had no choice but to leave Las

Vegas.

Having squeezed the words out, Marco could no longer hold it in and burst into a loud sob.

“Please, Auntie Freya, help my mommy. Papa only listens to you…’

I sat on the sofa, watching him weep without a shred of emotion.

I waited until his voice grew raspy and his tears ran dry.

Only then did I let out a slow, deliberate chuckle.

“And why on earth should I help her? Just because you called me Mommy?”

Twirling the small urn pendant around my neck, I drifted into my own thoughts. “I was supposed to have a

child of my own.”

Marco’s small face instantly flushed crimson.

r

An apology hovered on the tip of his tongue, but he was too choked up to utter a single syllable.

He wiped his eyes aggressively, finally letting out a stubborn huff.

“Fine! You’re a bad auntie! If you won’t help me, I don’t care. I’ll help my mommy myself when I grow up! When that day comes, I’ll kick all of you out!”

He turned around to storm off, but his eyes caught the rows of designer bags and necklaces filling my walk-in closet.

God knows what crossed his mind, but fresh tears began rolling down his cheeks.

“My mommy used to be even younger and prettier than you.

“No one could ever dislike my mommy. It’s only because of me that she has to wear those ragged, worn-out

clothes.”

He looked back at me, his gaze fiercely resolute. “Since you refuse to help my mommy today, a day will come when you end up exactly like her!”

With that, he stumbled and ran out of the room.

In a child’s world, everything is strictly black and white.

I had no idea what kind of poison Sofia had fed him.

But my survival didn’t depend on Matteo, and the Ferraro family was in no position to threaten the Moretti

empire. With a perfectly clear conscience, how could I ever reduce myself to her pathetic state?

I leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window on the second floor.

Down below, I saw Marco sobbing as he ran into Matteo’s arms.

Matteo bent down, sweeping the boy into his embrace with practiced familiarity.

Cassian spun his golf club, letting out a mocking sneer.

“What kind of family drama are you trying to stage in front of me?”

“I put nine hundred million on the line to play this game with you so you would treat my sister right, not so you could play happy family with this bastard child.”

The word ‘bastard’ pierced Marco like a knife, turning his face instantly pale.

Matteo immediately covered the boy’s ears.

“He’s just a child. Don’t speak about him like that.”

Cassian remained completely unmoved by this display of paternal devotion.

The veins on his temples pulsed violently, and he spoke through tightly gritted teeth.

“Don’t tell me you used to defend him like this right in front of my sister, too.”

Matteo fell silent.

Г

He hadn’t just defended the boy; he had openly mocked me-who had just lost a baby-by saying I had never been a mother and couldn’t understand.

I looked down, my eyes stinging.

Seeing Matteo’s silence, Cassian let out a furious, ironic laugh.

“Fuck, you actually did?”

He pressed his fingers against the corners of his eyes, taking a sharp, ragged breath.

“Matteo, I have only one sister. When I carried her on my back on her wedding day and handed her over to you, what did you promise me?!”

“You said you had loved her since you were kids, and that she was the only woman you would ever be loyal to

in this lifetime!”

Matteo’s lips turned stark white as he whispered, “I have never broken my word.”

Cassian shrugged, his eyes bloodshot as he chuckled bitterly.

“Sure, technically you didn’t break your word.”

“But you went ahead and dragged a bastard child into the picture, and you consistently took his side right in front of my sister. Do you have any idea how much that broke her heart?! Did you give it a single thought?!”
