He Cheated, So I Drank the Love Potion Myself Chapter 18

They froze.

I turned and rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a cleaver from the knife block, and gripped it tightly.

Then I turned back to face them.

“This is hilarious.”

“He cheats, and you defend him. Why don’t you go live with him, then?”

“Why should I be the one bending over backward to please him?”

“Who the hell is Reed Pierce, anyway?”

When they saw the knife in my hand, none of them dared to move.

I raised my voice, pouring out all the anger I had swallowed for years.

“Do you really think I can’t survive without a man?”

I bent down and grabbed the mop from the corner, holding the knife in one hand and the mop handle in the other.

My gaze swept over the living room.

That seventy-inch television was bought with the prize money from my first photography award.

That French-door refrigerator was bought with money I’d saved from weekend photo gigs.

The furniture, the appliances, the pots and pans—so much of it, I had bought.

“How many things in this house did I pay for? Do you really not know?”

I swung the mop like a baseball bat, smashing it straight into the television screen.

With a loud crack, the screen spiderwebbed.

“You can’t seriously think Reed gave you all of this, can you?”

I swung again, this time at the refrigerator door.

The stainless steel dented with a hollow boom.

“You use my things, you spend my money, and you still have the nerve to look down on me?”

I cursed as I smashed, bringing the mop down again and again.

The living room was soon a wreck.

My father’s face was purple with rage. He grabbed a broom from the corner as if to rush me.

But one look at the cleaver still in my hand, and he stopped short.

My mother just stood there, wailing, calling me heartless, calling me crazy.

My younger brother, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire, had already vanished into his room.

In the end, the police came, and the chaos finally stopped.

A neighbor, unable to stand the noise any longer, had called them.
