He Canceled Our Wedding 18 TIMES for His Bestie Chapter 06

Griffin gripped his phone so hard his knuckles went white, demanding Mirabelle try to reach me.

But I’d already blocked everyone connected to them. He had no way to get through.

He raced back to the rental in a cab. When he walked in, everything that belonged to me was gone.

So clean, you’d think no one else had ever lived there.

The landlady showed up, confused.

“Hey, did you guys leave those things downstairs?? Looked like some pretty expensive stuff, so I

told the cleaners to leave it.”

“Everything okay between you two?”

Griffin said nothing. He just bolted down the stairs like a madman.

He found things I’d once treasured more than anything scattered everywhere in the trash.

Dresses, jewelry, accessories. Every piece he’d picked out for me.

Back then, I’d accepted them with a smile, looking at him like he was my whole world.

Whatever he chose, I always said, “I love it.”

Then I’d obediently wear whatever he preferred, never touching the styles he hated.

But now, all his care, all his rules were thrown away into the dumpster.

It was only then that Griffin finally understood that I really wasn’t coming back.

Just then, Mirabelle showed up.

She took in the mess, her voice dripping with fake surprise and pity.

“What happened here? Aren’t these all the things Sandra used to love?”

“She tossed everything? Is she still mad at you, Griffin?”

Griffin hung his head, muttering to himself. “No. She wouldn’t leave me. Not really.”

“She waited all that time. Maybe this time… maybe we were finally going to make it.”

A flicker of triumph passed through Mirabelle’s eyes. She slipped her arm through his.

“She’s probably just throwing a tantrum. Once she cools down, she’ll come back.”

“But right now, we have to focus on the wedding. The family’s all here and you can’t just leave them hanging.”

“Let’s go back. I already booked a table. If we leave now, we’ll still make the timing.”

Griffin stiffened.

“There’s no bride,” he said flatly. “What’s the point of a wedding without Sandra?”

Mirabelle cut him off, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I’ll be the bride. Simple as

that.”

When he didn’t answer, she pressed on.

“We’ve done it a dozen times already. I’m used to cleaning up Sandra’s messes by now.”

“Besides, I’m a timing expert so I can keep up with your pace perfectly.”

“Don’t you want a perfect wedding? I’m right here. I’m the perfect…”

She stopped cold.

Because Griffin was staring at her with red-rimmed eyes.

Pure disgust on his face. It shut down every word in her throat.

He let out a bitter laugh. “How could you ever compare to Sandra?”

“Sandra is my girlfriend. Whether she nails the timing or not, I’ll wait for her.”

“I only did those rehearsals with you because you have decent rhythm and show her how it’s done.”

“How dare you think you could replace her?”

Mirabelle flinched, stepping back. Her eyes glistened.

“What do you mean by that?”

“If all that was for Sandra, then what was the point of leaving her behind for me every single time?”

“You gave me her candlelit dinners. You took me on her trips. You picked my flowers, my

bridesmaids, my wedding dress!”

“Anyone with eyes could see you were never happy with Sandra.”

“So why can’t you just pick me instead?”

“We’re the ones who click. I’m the only one who can give you your perfect wedding!”

With every word out of her mouth, the pain in Griffin’s eyes grew deeper.

He’d never realized how much he’d hurt Sandra time after time.

He’d thought perfection was something they both wanted. That being strict with her mistakes was

the right thing to do.

That it was the only way to be responsible and to give her the perfect marriage.

But now, with Mirabelle tearing open the ugly truth, he could finally see the scars he’d left behind.

Every single one of them was a condemnation of him as a boyfriend.

He’d been wrong so many times. And he’d realized it way too late.

Too late to keep her. Too late to bring her back.
