He Called Me His Mother’s Killer And Tried To Transfer Me To His Friend Chapter 10

Because I wouldn’t ask for leniency and insisted on pressing charges for the credit card fraud, Grant sat in

jail awaiting sentencing

I heard that Tessa planned to file for divorce.

Grant wouldn’t agree unless she paid back the money. Tessa flat–out refused and let the court settle it.

After the divorce, Caleb and I settled into married life.

Despite our seven–year age gap, Caleb treated me with more love and care than I’d ever known.

His parents never looked down on me for being divorced, having two sons, or even being seven years

older than Caleb.

Instead, they gave us $900,000 as a wedding gift to help us start our new life.

I was floored and didn’t dare accept it.

But Caleb insisted, and I couldn’t keep refusing. So I put the money into a CD.

Three months later, Grant got two years for the credit card fraud.

By the time he got out, I’d just had a baby shower for the little girl Caleb and I were expecting.

He used one of our sons‘ phones to lure me back to the old house, pretending to be Noah and saying he

was sick.

The moment I saw Grant, I turned to leave.

He lunged at me and wrapped his arms around me, holding me so tightly I could barely move.

“Mara, I was wrong. Please, just give me one last chance!”

“I finally saw Tessa for who she really is. She only cares about money.”

“You’re different. You know how to build a real life.”

“For the sake of our two sons, can’t you give me one last chance?”

I fought him with everything I had.

“Grant, I’m married now, and I have a child! There’s no going back for us!”

“I know. So what if you had a daughter? I don’t care. I just want you back.”

His words made my blood boil.

I shot back. “Don’t forget your mother worked herself to death scraping together that money for you.”

“In your eyes, I’ve always been the woman who killed your mother!”

He tried to apologize,

“I only said those things because I was angry. I was wrong. Please don’t hold them against me.”

When he realized I still wouldn’t take him back, he lost it. He shoved me down onto the couch and tried to

force himself on me.

“Once Caleb finds out you slept with me again, he’ll divorce you.”

“Then we can be a family again.”

Like a wild animal, Grant tore at my clothes.

I screamed and fought desperately to get away. Just then, Ethan came home and shoved Grant to the

floor.

I serambled up and straightened my clothes.

Ethan glared at Grant.

“She’s not your wife anymore! You don’t get to touch her!”

“You touch her again, you deal with me!”

Ethan was already taller and stronger than him.

Grant faltered under his son’s glare–furious, but not daring to say a word.

My heart warmed. Having my son stand up for me made all those years of sacrifice feel worthwhile.

To keep Grant from harassing me again, the boys took turns making it clear he wasn’t welcome.

Neither of them showed him any sympathy, and Grant eventually stopped trying to win me back.

Instead, he turned back to Tessa.

Their divorce battle had dragged on, and they still weren’t divorced.

Not wanting to lose both women, Grant went looking for Tessa.

On the way, he ran into Deke, who wanted his money back.

Deke told him to pay up right then. They’d barely exchanged a few words before Deke beat him up.

Grant promised he’d get the money back from Tessa and pay Deke.

But when he finally found Tessa, she was already pregnant with another man’s child.

The sight of her heavily pregnant belly drove Grant over the edge. He shoved her hard.

Tessa lost her balance, hit her head on the wall, and died on the spot–along with her unborn baby.

Grant was arrested again.

This time, he wasn’t getting out.

Because of what their father did, both boys took heat from people.

Thankfully, they were tough enough not to let it get to them.

They even adored their little half–sister.

Without Grant, life only got better.
