He Called Me Dirty, He Was The One Cheating Chapter 06

“I checked the airline records. She flew to New York City last night.”

Damon finally frowned. He looked around the empty room, and the anxiety he’d been suppressing began to grow wildly.

“Find out.” He bit out the words, cold as ice. “Find out exactly where she went in New York and

who she’s with.”

He hung up, his fingers trembling slightly.

The executive conference room on the top floor of Sterling Corp was so tense it was hard to

breathe.

Damon sat at the head of the table, staring at the disastrous project reports in his hand. His

face was thunderous.

In just three days, Sterling Corp had fallen into chaos.

The East Side clean energy project had stalled. Three core suppliers refused to renew their contracts. Even the finance department was scrambling over several overseas payments that

didn’t add up.

It was only then that Damon suddenly realized

For the past three years, Elena had been more than just his wife. She had been the most stable pillar of Sterling Corp. She had taken on every impossible task and cleaned up every mess no

one else wanted to touch.

He had enjoyed her labor with a clear conscience and even acted like it was only natural.

“Mr. Sterling, the client from East Side still refuses to see us.” The project manager wiped cold sweat from his forehead as he reported.

Damon slammed the reports onto the table.

“You’re all useless! Is this company completely helpless without Elena?”

The conference room fell dead silent. No one dared to cross him.

The door swung open.

Lauren walked in, careful and quiet, holding a thermos.

“Damon, don’t be upset. I made you some soup. Please, just have some.’

She walked up to him and reached out to massage his temples.

Damon turned his head away before she could touch him. “Who told you to come to the office?” His tone carried a coldness even he didn’t notice.

Lauren’s hand froze in midair, and her eyes instantly filled with tears. “You’ve been in a bad mood these past few days. I just wanted to check on you.”

“Put the soup down and leave.” Damon didn’t look at her. He opened another file.

Lauren bit her lip, set down the container, looking hurt, and turned to leave.

She ran straight into Mrs. Sterling at the door.

Mrs. Sterling caught Lauren’s hand and patted it sympathetically. Then she turned to Damon

with irritation.

“Why are you snapping at Lauren? She’s carrying the Sterling family’s child!”

Damon rubbed his temples and pushed down his agitation. “Mom, you don’t understand company business. Don’t make things worse.

“What don’t I understand?” Mrs. Sterling huffed. “Isn’t this just because that bitch Elena ran

off?”

“She’s playing hard to get and trying to force you to give in. Listen to me, ignore her. When she gets hungry out there, she’ll crawl back and beg you.”

Damon didn’t answer. He stared out at the traffic crawling through the streets of Chicago, and

the knot in his chest pulled tighter.

Would she really come back?

Outside, the assistant knocked and came in with a thick file folder.

Her expression was even more serious than before.

“Mr. Sterling, this came from the Cook County Courthouse.”

Damon’s head snapped up.-

The assistant placed the file on the desk, her voice strained. “Your wife has hired a top legal team in New York and formally filed for divorce.”

“Also.” The assistant paused, as if afraid to continue.

“Speak!” Damon barked.

“She’s going after three years of personal contributions and the intellectual property she brought to Sterling Corp. If this goes through, the company’s cash flow could collapse.”
