He Broke My Heart, My Family Broke His Empire Chapter 16

I looked at him, my face a blank mask.

“Julian, why did you need to teach me a lesson?”

He froze.

His mouth opened, but no words came out.

I slowly pulled my hands from his grasp.

“You threw me out, but you kept my suitcase.”

“I walked through the snow in an evening gown. Do you have any idea how close I came to dying?”

“I had no money, no ID. I couldn’t get a room, couldn’t even buy a cup of coffee.”

“Do you know how I survived?”

“I found a cardboard shelter under a bridge on the Charles River. I stayed there with a homeless man for two days.”

As he listened, Julian’s eyes began to turn red.

“I’m sorry… Clara, I’m so sorry…”

I looked at him and said, with the utmost seriousness, “Julian, let’s get a divorce.”

“This marriage has become nothing but pain for both of us. After we’re divorced, we can both finally breathe.”

Julian suddenly slid from the chair to his knees, his hands gripping the edge of the bed.

His injured leg buckled, and the pain turned his face white.

“No. We can’t get divorced!”

“Clara, I don’t want a divorce. I’m begging you, just give me one more chance. I’ll never do it again. I’ll change. I swear I’ll change, okay?”

I sighed and pressed the call button by the bed.

A moment later, the bodyguards rushed in and dragged him out.
