He Broke My Heart, My Family Broke His Empire Chapter 06

I looked at him, my tone perfectly calm.

“I’m not pretending. Isn’t this what you wanted? For me to give things to Miss Felicity?”

I paused, then added, “If there’s anything else you want to give her, that’s fine too. This apartment, for instance.”

Julian narrowed his eyes, forcing the words through his teeth.

“Fine. Very good.”

“If you insist on this charade, then get out of this apartment. And you can give Felicity the title of Mrs. Ashworth while you’re at it.”

I froze for a second.

“Right now?”

“Yes, right now.” He gave me a cold smile. “What, can’t bear to leave?”

I said nothing more. I turned and went into the bedroom to pack my things.

After five years, my entire life here fit into a single twenty-inch carry-on.

Julian’s expression grew darker with every item I packed.

When I reached the front door, suitcase in hand, he stopped me.

He reached out, his fingers hooking the Loro Piana cashmere coat I was wearing.

“I bought this coat, too. And now I think Felicity would look better in it.”

I glanced out the window. The first snow of the Boston winter had begun to fall, thick flakes drifting through the air.

Then I simply unbuttoned the coat, took it off, and draped it over a stunned Felicity.
