He Asked Me To Be His Mistress So I Left Him For Good Chapter 09

He Asked Me To Be His Mistress So I Left Him For Good Chapter 09

We spent a month traveling around London. During that time, we never ran into Elliot again, nor did we hear any news about him

But the day before we planned to leave, we suddenly heard a shocking piece of news

Half a month earlier, an American man had used his last savings to buy a small café at the corner of Carnaby Street. Last night, he had died there suddenly

I immediately thought of Elliot, and cold sweat broke

out all over me

My husband held my hand tightly, and we went to that café together. It really was Elliot. The authorities were still clearing the scene, and his body had already been

taken away

We waited for a week. The medical examiner’s report

said he had died from a combination of alcohol abuse

and stomach cancer

My legs trembled. He had always had stomach.

problems. Back when I was with him, I made him

gentle, stomachfriendly soup every week and

reminded him to take his medicine on time

Thinking about it now, he must have neglected all of that while living alone all these years

He had no friends in London, so my husband and

handled his funeral arrangements and notified his family

While sorting through his belongings, I found a journal he had left for me. It was filled from cover to cover with the record of his journey searching for me across the world

It was far more detailed than what he had told me in

person

He wrote, [There is a variety of white rose called White Swan. It has no thorns, yet it blooms the most upright. That is Bianca Rose.

[What Bianca left me was never a simple past romance. It was like a river carving a deep, long gorge into the land. Unless the whole world remakes itself, it can

never be restored.

[Ever since we met again, I’ve been trying desperately

to tell myself that she is doing well now and that

shouldn’t disturb her. But I can’t control the urge to

disturb her, especially when it comes to the man she

calls her husband. I’ve wanted to kill him, but I know

can’t do that. My baby would be heartbroken.

[Fortunately, I don’t have much life left. If nothing unexpected happens, this café should be the last place where Bianca and I ever met. Taking over this place and dying here should be the best ending I could have.

[It has been eighteen days since I met Bianca again and then lost her again. My longing for her has reached

another level. I really can’t control it. I want to hold her

so badly.

[It has been thirty days. I’m almost at the end, but I feel happy because the place where I’ll close my eyes for the last time is a place my baby has been. I will never fail

her again.

[I found this ring in the rain. If you happen to still be in London when I leave this world, please take this ring

with you, my baby. My soul will cling to it and protect

you.

That was where the journal ended

My heart was filled with complicated emotions

All the good and bad things he had done to me jumped chaotically through my mind like a broken videotape

In the end, I fell ill because of him again

Not because of love, and not because of hate, but because of the sorrow of watching a life come to this

Why do people always have to reach this point before realizing they chose the wrong path

Why do they only regret it then

But this time, I was not seriously ill. I recovered in just

two days

Because I had a husband and children. If I fell ill, they

would be heartbroken

So I had to keep living safely and peacefully

When I woke up, my husband was sitting by my bed

peeling an apple. Once he finished, he handed it to me

and said, For a safe, peaceful life.”

I knew then that I could live another eighteen safe

peaceful years

Later, my husband had that ring made into a necklace

He said, Wear it. I’m not going to be jealous of a soul that may not even exist.”

But I still did not wear it. Instead, I locked it away in

drawer

From then on, all the love and hatred between Elliot and me was over. I no longer needed him to protect me

in any form
