He Asked for a Divorce, Then Begged Me to Marry Him Again After I Moved On Chapter 11

After the holiday, Bennett Technologies secured several major enterprise contracts.

Our growth trajectory was soaring.

However, rapid success invited envy and targeted attacks.

Ethan’s newly developed flagship application was suddenly accused of intellectual property theft.

A representative from our primary venture capital firm came to our office immediately to demand

answers.

“We don’t invest in companies lacking technical integrity.”

“Ms. Bennett, I expect a satisfactory explanation from your team.”

His tone made it clear they were preparing to pull funding.

I assured him firmly. “Ethan would never commit plagiarism.”

“What makes you so sure?”

“I trust him. He is simply not that type of person.”

“He holds absolute loyalty toward his code and engineering work. Plagiarism would be a betrayal of

his own principles.”

Having survived startup crises in our previous life, I knew Ethan had never compromised his core

ethics.

I continued, “Please give us a little time. We will investigate and clarify everything.”

The representative nodded. “I can grant you time. But if this damages our firm’s capital, can you take personal responsibility?”

If they withdrew funding now, other investors would follow suit.

Even if we cleared our name later, the company’s financial core would be severely damaged.

I clenched my hands at my side. “Fine. If there are losses, I personally-”

“You certainly have a lot of nerve.”

Ethan’s relaxed voice broke the tense silence in the room.

Unnoticed by either of us, he had walked into the office. He stepped forward and placed a candy into my hand.

“You really dare to promise anything, don’t you?”

I asked urgently, “Have you found evidence proving our innocence?”

He tapped a folder against his palm, his gaze dark as he looked at me.

“Innocence?”

“You trust me that much?”

I couldn’t understand why he was focusing on that detail, and my expression grew more anxious.

Ethan handed me a thumb drive.

He explained that it contained the original, timestamped source code of our application, predating the rival company’s release by months.

The reason the two applications appeared virtually identical was that the rival firm had copied our code and launched a preemptive smear campaign against us.

Ethan sat back in a leather chair, adjusting his collar, and spoke to me.

“We will hold a press conference tomorrow to set the record straight.”

I nodded. “Good.”

He then turned to the relieved investor representative and dropped the folder onto the desk in front

of him.

“A termination agreement, freshly printed. Sign it.”

“Mr. Hayes, you must be joking…”
