Ghosted My Onlinemate Chapter 01

Ghosted My Onlinemate Chapter 01

Sienna Reyes POV

[Is she pretty?]

The boy I’d been chatting with anonymously for three years just sent me a photo of the girl he liked.

Yvette Laurent. The hottest Beta girl at Ethelguard Academy.

So he was part of the Vance Pack too?

That wasn’t exactly surprising. Everyone wanted Yvette.

I didn’t press him for details. I just kept helping him strategize.

Until today, when a message came through.

[You’re incredible. Girls really do understand girls better!]

[She said yes!]

[Anyway, I’m deleting this account. Goodbye.]

Attached was a wire transfer for a hundred thousand dollars.

I genuinely hoped things worked out for them. But I didn’t accept the money.

The next night, after training ended.

The training grounds were dim, and I accidentally stumbled on Yvette pinned against a stone pillar, being kissed by a boy.

My breath caught in my throat.

I knew that back better than anyone.

Elias Vance. Son of the Vance Pack Alpha.

The person I’d had a crush on for five years.

I watched Elias press those dangerously tempting lips against Yvette’s.

It was the first time I’d ever seen his eyes go that soft.

Then Elias froze mid-motion.

“Wait…”

My heart lurched.

His sense of smell was lethal.

I held my breath instantly and melted into the shadow behind the oak tree.

“What is it?” Yvette whispered, leaning into his chest.

A full second passed before Elias spoke.

“Nothing.”

The wet sound of kissing started up again.

His rough breathing. Her soft moans.

My heart felt like it was shattering right there.

I don’t know how long it lasted.

Elias walked past the tree with his arm around Yvette, passing right in front of me.

Yvette seemed a little shy. Elias reassured her.

“Relax. It’s too dark out here. Nobody can see.”

“Mm.”

In that instant, I hated myself for having such good eyesight.

I could see it perfectly clearly. The smile Elias gave Yvette was nothing like the one he gave anyone else.

I steadied myself and was about to leave.

Then a voice came from behind me.

“Sienna, why haven’t you gone home yet?”

It was Maya.

I let out a breath of relief.

But then she shrieked. “Oh my God, is that Elias and Yvette? Are they–”

She didn’t finish. My hand was already clamped over her mouth.

“Shh! Keep it down!”

I didn’t want Elias to know I’d been watching them. Or worse, fantasizing…

Maya nodded, and I finally let go.

She stared at the retreating silhouette of the couple, the size difference between them practically radiating tension, and her voice dripped with envy.

“Figures. Half the pack’s been betting Elias would pick Yvette as his mate. Family background, raw talent, they’re a perfect match on every level. Don’t you think?”

I didn’t answer for a long time.

Then Maya’s round, lightly freckled face appeared right in front of mine, and the look in her eyes, like she’d seen straight through me, made me stop breathing.

“Sienna, I’ve been meaning to ask. Don’t tell me you’re like all those other lovesick girls, crushing on Elias too?”

I thought I could brush it off the way I always did. But my voice shot up an octave before I could stop it. “Are you kidding? Why would I like him?”

“Okay, okay, I know, I’m just messing with you.” She patted my shoulder. “I know you’ve got your heart set on becoming an elite warrior. Some stuck-up Alpha like Elias would never be your type.”

“Come on, let’s go. We’re gonna miss the last bus.”

Maya grabbed my arm and pulled me into a run. In the corner of my vision, Elias crouched down and tied Yvette’s shoelace for her.

The training ground lights snapped off with a sharp click.

In the dark.

My lips tasted like salt.
