From OT To Wheelchair: He Cried When I Boarded Chapter 05

“What?! Zoe-she jumped?!”

Julian shoved Chloe off him. She hit the floor hard. He didn’t even look back.

He frantically rushed into the ward.

The room was empty. Blood pooled on the floor. The window stood open. Several men huddled in the corner,

trembling, their faces white.

“Zoe!” Julian lunged for the window.

Below, just blood on the pavement.

He turned around and kicked one of the men in the chest, roaring in fury.

“I said scare her! What the fuck did you do?!”

“Mr. Sterling, please! We swear we didn’t do anything! Just scared her, touched her clothes a bit…”

The men coughed up blood, on their knees, begging.

Chloe hurried in from the hallway and grabbed Julian from behind.

“Julian, stop! You’ll kill them!”

“We need to check on Zoe first!”

At Zoe’s name, Julian immediately spun around and rushed out.

He grabbed a doctor in the hallway and bellowed, “Where’s Zoe? Where is she?!”

“Where did you take her for emergency treatment?”

The doctor was stunned by his shouting and stammered.

“Mr. Sterling… she wasn’t taken to the ER.”

Julian seized him by the collar.

“What do you mean? Everyone’s screaming she jumped! Who got to her?!”

A nurse ran over, her eyes red, and spoke in a small voice.

“Mr. Sterling, by the time security got there, she was… gone.”

“Just blood. Her gown and slippers on the ground.”

“Someone saw a car pull up underneath. They grabbed her and took off. No one got the plate”

Julian froze. He swallowed hard.

“What car?”

The nurse shook her head.

“By the time we chased after them, the car had already exited the hospital gates.”

The corridor went silent.

Chloe trotted over in her high heels, her eyes rimmed with red.

“Julian, don’t panic. We’ll find her.”

She held his arm, her voice obedient and soft.

“Maybe someone saw how badly she was hurt and took her to another hospital.”

“What about the security cameras? We can check the footage.”

Julian seemed to snap out of it. He released the doctor and ordered in a deep voice.

“Get me the footage. Everything from downstairs, the entrance, the intersections. Every angle.”

In the monitoring room.

The screen repeatedly replayed the scene.

A white figure flashed past the window.

A second later, a heavy impact.

The camera zoomed in. Blood on the pavement. A man ran forward and scooped up the body.

The man wore a hat and mask, face hidden. Only his back was visible, covered in blood.

He ran toward a car, nearly stumbling. Someone opened the door.

The plate was covered. Only a blurry corner showed.

Julian stared at the screen, his knuckles white against the console.

“Rewind.”

The footage played over and over.

He stared at the falling figure, eyes bloodshot.

“Rewind again.”

Until there was nothing more to see, the monitoring staff spoke in a low voice.

“Mr. Sterling, that’s the earliest footage we have. Dr. Reynolds falling, then someone picking her up.”

“Before that, it just shows the group of men entering the ward. Do you still want to see that?”

Hearing this, Chloe, who had been leaning against the door, immediately stood up.

“Julian, the guy who took Zoe… could that be an ex-boyfriend?”

“She never told you about her past, right? And those pills in her bag…”

Before she could finish, Julian turned on her, his eyes cold.

Julian’s voice came out hoarse.

“Shut up.”

He turned and walked out.

“Lock this down. No one talks about Zoe. If word gets out about any infection, this hospital is done.”

Julian used every resource he had to find me. Nothing.

He sent Chloe away and collapsed in my old lounge, touching the things I’d left behind.

“Zoe, where are you? Are you okay?”

The lounge door opened.

Sarah walked in. Bandages covered her ribs where Julian had kicked her. Her expression was ice cold.

She threw a stack of files on the table.

“You need to see these.”
