From Grieving Mother to Mafia Queen Chapter 08

From Grieving Mother to Mafia Queen Chapter 08: “She’s mine”

The screaming didn’t stop till morning.

Vincent came out covered in blood-totally numb but buzzing. He rinsed off fast and threw on that black suit I always liked. The same one from our wedding day.

He picked up a bunch of white roses, my favorite, plus a giant diamond ring.

Ten times the size of the old one. So flashy it stung your eyes.

Like a complete psycho, he sped straight to the Hart estate.

He actually thought that because he’d made Sophia suffer, I’d welcome him back.

“Serafina’s gonna forgive me…” he kept muttering. “I got even for her…”

Driving there, he started picturing me running into his arms.

“She loves me that much. She’ll cave…”

But when he pulled up to the Hart manor gate, what he saw blew his mind.

In the garden, some tall, hot guy knelt on one knee, handing me flowers. Henrik Victor-the boss of the Victor family. Strong jaw, major swagger, real feeling in his eyes.

“Serafina, just give me a shot…” Henrik’s voice was crazy smooth.

I lounged on a chair, soaking up the sun like royalty.

Jealousy fried whatever brains Vincent had left.

“She belongs to me!” he howled, charging forward. “Get lost! Don’t you touch woman!”

my

Henrik squinted at the lunatic who appeared out of thin air. “Who the hell are you?”

“I’m her husband!” Vincent shrieked, eyes red as blood. “Serafina is my wife!”

But he’d forgotten-he had nothing now. Zero pull.

Henrik just flicked his hand. His guys flattened Vincent onto the dirt.

“You?” Henrik stared down at the sorry mess and smirked. “A failure who couldn’t even keep his own family \together?”

Vincent crawled to my feet, bawling like a toddler.

“Serafina, I screwed up so bad!” he sobbed. “I punished Sophia! I got rid of Tommy! I avenged you! Please, just come back with me! I love you!”

His hands shook as he held up the diamond ring. “See? Ten times bigger! And white roses-the ones you love!”

I stared at this snot-faced, tear-soaked wreck. All I felt was pure disgust.

This was the guy I once loved that much? The former head of the Corleones? Now just a pathetic bum.

“Vincent.” My voice came out frozen. “You really think you have the right to talk about revenge?”

I rose slowly, my heels glittering in the sunlight. “You were the one who made it all possible.”

Then I raised my foot and kicked him hard right in the face with my heel.

Whack! Vincent flew backwards and crashed into a stone column.

Blood gushed from his nose and mouth.

“If it weren’t for your dumb betrayal, could Sophia have ever laid a hand on Sonny or me?” I stepped toward him one by one, each step like a dagger. “If you hadn’t picked her lies over my truth, would my baby/still be alive? If you hadn’t brought her into my house and let her stay, would she ever have gotten the chance to torture me?”

Vincent tried to push himself up. Henrik’s guard stomped on his back, keeping him down.

“Don’t move,” the guard said coldly.

I kept at it. “You think punishing her now wipes the slate clean? Killing her fixes everything you did?”

“Vincent, you’ve got it all wrong.”

I bent down and lifted his chin with one finger. “You’re the real criminal. Without you shielding her, she was nobody.

Vincent’s eyes filled with hopelessness. “Serafina, I truly know I was wrong…”

“You know you were wrong?” I laughed. “You should’ve seen this train coming. Because you’d rather buy her fake tears than hear a word from me.”

“You should’ve known the second you let her move into my house.”

“You should’ve known when you were sleeping with her right after I got pregnant!”

My voice dropped even colder.

Vincent completely fell apart. “I was such an idiot! I should die! But I really, truly love you!”

“Love me?” I stood up and glared down at him. “Your idea of love is betrayal? Letting some other woman live in my home and sleep in my bed?”

“F*ck that. If that’s love, I don’t want any part of it.”

Henrik walked over and said quietly, “Serafina, don’t waste your breath on this piece of garbage.”

He turned to Vincent, disgust written all over his face. “Now I see why she dumped you. A guy who can’t protect his own woman and child doesn’t deserve to call himself a man.”

Rage flared in Vincent’s eyes. “What did you just say?”

He tried to get up and take a swing at Henrik. The bodyguards shoved him right back down.

“That’s all you’ve got?” Henrik shook his head. “No wonder a woman ran circles around you.”

Vincent lay on the ground, bleeding, but his eyes stayed glued on me.

“Serafina, even if you hate my guts, I’m not giving up. I’ll keep coming after you until you forgive me.”

I looked at him, my eyes completely empty. “Vincent, you’ll never understand. The moment you turned of me, we were finished. Done forever. There’s no ‘us’ anymore.”

I took Henrik’s arm. “Let’s get out of here.”

Henrik gave a small nod. “Of course, Serafina.”

We walked away together, leaving Vincent alone in a puddle of his own blood.

He watched our backs, his heart ripped to pieces. He reached out like he could grab something-but caught nothing but air.

“Serafina…” he whispered my name, his eyes full of hopelessness and crazy obsession.
