Four Dads Spoiled Then Abandoned Me Chapter 02

Four Dads Spoiled Then Abandoned Me Chapter 02

As soon as Kael left the kennel area, I slipped out of the Voss Estate.

I found a way to end my suffering and prepared to leave everything behind.

I stopped.

If I died here, I’d trouble the police.

I wrote a suicide note. I made it clear I’d taken my own life.

I chose to end my pain and lost consciousness soon after.

I blacked out at once.

Mom, I’m coming.

After an unknown period of time, I woke retching, my stomach churning violently.

I stared at a unfamiliar ceiling and jumped up in joy.

The word “Mom” was on my lips, but I froze when I met Elias’s eyes.

He stood in a white coat, holding my note.

His knuckles whitened as he squeezed the paper.

He threw it at my face.

“Lila Reed,” he snarled, “you’ve really outdone yourself. Using death to make us notice you.”

“Couldn’t you die somewhere else? Why here? You’ve defiled your mom’s place.”

I flinched.

Elias had always been my favorite.

He was a medical genius, skilled in every field.

He’d taught me medicine and acupuncture, gentle and fun.

He’d spent the most time with me. I’d once believed he was my real father.

When Elara first arrived, he hadn’t doted on her like the others.

He’d told me, “Lila, you’re my only daughter. Nothing will change that.”

Then Elara collapsed in front of everyone. Elias pulled an acupuncture needle from the back of her head.

Before he could ask what happened, Elara dropped to her knees in front of me.

“I’m sorry, sister,” she sobbed. “I didn’t tell him. He found it on his own. Hurt me again if you must.”

It was the first time I’d seen Elias so angry.

He looked at me with cold disappointment. “I taught you to heal, not to hurt!”

No matter how I pleaded, he wouldn’t believe me.

Only he and I could place a needle that precisely.

“Calm down,” Kael said. I hadn’t noticed he was there. His face was stormy. “Lila has tried to kill herself twice today. I think she’s—”

Elias cut him off. “Have you gone soft? Don’t you see how well she acts?”

“She’s obsessed with this life. She’d never leave. She’s just putting on a show because it’s Elara’s birthday.”

Kael’s hesitation faded. “You’re right.”

Their phones buzzed at the same time.

They checked them instantly.

“Dad, when are you coming home? The others are waiting,” Elara’s sweet voice trilled.

“It’s my eighteenth birthday. I’ll be upset if you’re late.”

Both men softened at once. They cooed at her through voice notes, gentle and indulgent.

I’d seen that look a hundred times before. They hadn’t changed.

Their hearts had just turned away from me.

With every tender “princess” they spoke, my heart broke a little more.

I dragged myself to the window.

I was afraid of pain.I’d chosen gentle ways to die before.

But I couldn’t wait anymore.

I stood by the window, desperate to escape all the pain.

Goodbye.
