Four Childhood Heroes For Her? Fine, I Cut Off The Four Who Betrayed Me Chapter 05

The four of them stood stunned, before immediately raising their voices in denial.

“You must have made a mistake!”

“We’re fresh college graduates accompanying a friend to school. How could we possibly be involved in hit-and-run, fraud, or identity theft?”

The officers produced a formal warrant.

Ava reacted first.

Seeing the cold handcuffs about to snap onto her wrists, she instantly grabbed Ethan’s arm

and sobbed.

“It’s Emma! She didn’t want me to go to school in Europe, so she filed a false police report

accusing me of identity theft!”

The others quickly came to the same conclusion, their initial confusion turning into sharp

indignation toward me.

“No wonder she stayed so quiet these past three months! She didn’t even try to stop us from seeing Ava off. She was waiting to trap us here!”

“I’ll call her right now and make her explain everything to the police!”

All four tried dialing my number, but none of the calls went through.

They thought about reaching out to mutual acquaintances to ask about my whereabouts, only

to realize that over the years, they had kept me entirely isolated.

Under the guise of protecting me from potential harm, they had systematically removed

anyone who tried to get close to me.

For a moment, none of them knew where to look for me.

Ava cried softly. “What should I do? Enrollment is only open for one day. If I miss it, the academy will never accept me.”

“Am I really going to lose my education over a baseless accusation?”

them had a viable solution.

Finally, Èthan remembered the angry call I had made to him after the graduation gala.

After a moment’s hesitation, he placed a call to my academic advisor

“Professor, I wanted to ask if you have any way of reaching Emma Sterling?”

“I don’t,” my professor interrupted coldly before Ethan could even finish his sentence.

Ethan frowned, his expression darkening with annoyance. “Professor, I know you’ve always

favored Emma, but I have a critical matter to discuss with her…”

The professor let out a harsh sneer through the phone. “What critical matter? Are you planning to steal another one of her design projects?”

“Too bad she only made one capstone project. Stealing it helped one Ava Monroe, but it won’t help a second or third one.”

Ethan caught the mockery in his voice, but pressed on stubbornly.

“I know I was in the wrong regarding the project, but we had no other choice. I promised I

would explain it to her.”

“Besides, Emma has a family legacy behind her, while Ava has nothing. Without this fellowship in Iceland, Ava’s entire future is ruined.”

“I beg you, please just tell me where Emma is!”

To help Ava, the usually proud Ethan was on the verge of kneeling to beg my advisor.

Yet my professor told him plainly, “I can’t tell you where Emma Sterling is because she went missing the very night she landed at the airport three months ago.”

“The police called you four over a hundred times trying to learn about her final whereabouts, but not a single one of you answered, including that Ava Monroe.”

“Ethan Blackwood, your heart is truly made of stone. If your feelings changed, you should have acted like a man and told Emma directly. Why step on her to lift someone else up?”

“I almost wish this border hold was Emma’s doing, because that would be far better than her

being betrayed by a group of cold-blooded cowards and vanishing without a trace!”

Ethan wanted to say more, but the professor hung up.

The other three crowded around, asking what happened and whether he had found me.

Yet Ethan’s mind echoed with the advisor’s harsh accusations over and over again.

It took him a long time to squeeze out a single sentence.

“Emma… she’s missing.”
