First-Class Vacation for His Parents? His Secretary Had Other Plans Chapter 03

Her words made my blood boil. She was his secretary. Who gave her the right to meddle in our family?

Before I could say a word, she hung up. My anger gave way to panic.

She hadn’t told me which forest she’d dumped my in-laws in. How was I supposed to find them?

I called Ryan immediately, but his phone was off.

My in-laws could be in serious danger.

I grabbed my car keys, hurried out, and drove straight to the office.

By the time I reached Ryan’s office, I was out of breath.

Chloe usually intercepted me at reception, but this time she wasn’t there.

Puzzled, I pushed his office door open a crack. Through the gap, I saw him fastening her bra.

She was half-dressed, and he stood behind her, grinning. Did neither of them see how inappropriate this was? What would the employees say if they walked in?

I kicked the door open and stormed inside, furious.

“What the hell are you doing?”

They both jumped at my arrival.

Ryan glared at me.

“What’s wrong with you? Don’t you have any manners? You could at least knock!”

He pulled his clothes on as he berated me.

Chloe didn’t look the least bit startled. She simply stood behind him as though she had every right to be there.

“Emma, I’ve told you before. Being Mr. Carter’s wife doesn’t mean you can come in without an appointment.”

I marched over and punched her in the face.

“An appointment?”

“That office was mine before you ever set foot in this company.”

“I’m letting Ryan use it for now. That doesn’t make him the one who calls the shots here.”

“Do you understand?”

Ryan rushed over and shoved me away.

“Have you lost your mind? Why would you hit her?”

Chloe lay on the floor, at a loss for words.

Ryan hurried to help her up.

“Chloe, are you hurt?”

“Mr. Carter, is what she said true?”

“Don’t listen to her nonsense. She’s just being petty. Why else would she hit you?”

Reassured, Chloe went right back to acting as if she owned the place.

I didn’t have time for any of this. I needed her to tell me where she’d dumped my in-laws.

“Chloe, where did you send Mom and Dad?”

Ryan answered before she could.

“So that’s what you’re angry about.”

“Obviously, they’re being pampered. I wouldn’t even spend a million dollars on a vacation for my own parents.”

“But yours had no problem asking for it.”

I glared at him.

“You keep saying my parents asked you for a million dollars. They never did.”

“If you have proof, show me. Let’s see whether they really asked you.”

I’d only asked him to show me proof. He acted as if I’d called him a liar.

His temper flared.

“Where’s security? Get someone in here and throw her out!”

“I never want to see you again.”

Before I could react, let alone get an answer out of Chloe, security dragged me out.

I was the founder of this company. I’d only handed him control for two years.

How had they all ended up answering only to him?

They left me outside, and nothing I did could get me back in to see Chloe.

My in-laws were in danger, and I had no idea how to save them.
